How does one install a blowdown tube, anyway?

I bought a NOS blowdown tube but can't figure out how to hook it to the bottle. There's the pressure disc on the side of the NX bottle there, but there isn't any threads to which I can attach the tube. Can I unscrew that pressure disc without dumping the eleven pounds of nitrous that are inside that bottle? If I can unscrew the disc, what do I put in it's place? If I can't unscrew the disc, how in the heck do I get a blowdown tube onto this thing?

So what's the F*in' point of selling a nitrous bottle that isn't equipped for a blowdown tube if all of the race tracks in the country require blowdown tubes ? I'm having this bad feeling that I've just wasted an unpaid day off work to get a bottle filled, just to discover that I can't use the nitrous and will have to waste it.

Who filled it? call them, maybe they can transfer it to another bottle or something then refill it.

They only require a blowdown tube if the bottle is installed in the passenger compartment. Not all bottles are installed inside the compartment.

How about in the spare tire area of an F-body? It'll be covered up with a plastic liner, but it's still, for all practical purposes, part of the passenger compartment. AFAIK, there isn't any part of an F-body that isn't passenger compartment, other than the underside or the engine bay.

I'm thinking that my nitrous installation is now effectively stillborn: October 5th is race day and it's probably the last one for the season that I can actually attend. I dont have any more time between now and then.

It would have to be covered with metal or a firewall.

Just leave the bottle out, put it back after you get teched in

It is really ghetto, but here is what a friend of mine did.

Take a thick rubber hose and hose clamp it to the end where the blow down tube should be. Then vent it to the outside of the car.

If by some wierd chance it does blow off, the hose clamp will keep it on the bottle.

That should get you past tech for the races until you get it properly installed.

Bad Idea.....

here is the fitting you will need to connect the blow down tube to your bottle....

...this will replace the fitting you already have on the back of the valve.

Do not remove the current fitting without emptying the bottle.

Yes, that is what I am going to do, but unfortunately I'm out of time, so the nitrous installation will have to wait to get finished in 2008. No nitrous for M12, I'm afraid.
