help with burst disc install

ok i put one of these on and it blew up but i think its cause i overtightened it. so anyways i ordered a new one from Nitro Daves, because the other spare one i have doesnt fit the nitro dave's blowdown tube fitting. so i went to put the new one on and its the same deal. for some reason when i installed the first one, it seemed to slip right on easily. now these 2 discs are too small to go over the fitting (it goes on almost like a condom right, lol) the lip should go around the whole end of the fitting then you plop the whole thing into the bottle valve and torque to 15 ft lbs right? for some reason they arent fitting. any help....

you should be able to widen the lip on the disc to fit over the blow off valve.

you can do it with your fingers...just make sure you don't dimple the bottom

ok, so its alright to force it a bit and reshape it? like i said, its real close but seems like it's possible that it's NOT right, i didnt force anything yet tho so i wanted to ask before i did. should it fit snugly or what? if i remember the last time it fit without a problem and had a bit of wiggle room all the way around.

alright well i had a helluva time with it and still no luck. i used my fingers and gently worked the edge slightly bigger however it seems like the disc all together is just simply too small to go over the end of the fitting. it seems like the end of the fitting is the same size as the flat spot of the disc so its almost impossible to put on. i got the disc to partially fit over the fitting however it wont stay on by itself. is it ALRIGHT to drop the fitting and disc into the bottle and torque down or is this wrong and should the disc be somewhat secure to the end of the fitting? im getting frustrated!!!arghhh.lol

not real sure what is going on here....the pressure relief discs and the blow off valve are an industry standard size....we have had some here that a little tight but we just widen the lip on the disc and slide them on.

If you tried to force the disc on by screwing the valve into the bottle you risk crimping the sides of the disc, if the disc is not seated on the end of the valve.

If it is to loose it will be fine

it seems like even when i flare out the sides a bit, it is just plan too small. like the base of the disc is the same size or smaller than the fitting so no matter how much i flare the sides, it still wont fit well. there is only one industry size u say?

try taking a picture and posting it up, would help see if the fitting is messed up or the disk(s) are bad.
