Head Gaskets

Trying to keep mine alive on about a 150 wet shot, what should I do? The car is going to get tuned and I'll prolly be mixing some 104 in, also stepping p fuel pumps to a 255 Walbro, but I have heard of people poping head gaskets. I under stand head gaskets are like fuses and dont go out for no aparent reason, always a reason, so what should I do to avoid blowing mine? End goal is 11.5s with bolt ons and gas

Re: Head Gaskets

you dont need race gas for your combo. your head gaskets as well as the whole motor will be just fine with that combo as long as you dont lean it out. when people blow head gaskets its due to detonation which is either caused by too much timing, too little fuel, or a combination of both

Yea, I'm trying to do this right, I like to race the car but I dont want ***** my car out or do things half ***, if that makes any sense. I just want a quick street car if thats possible.

Ok cool, thanks a lot. I have heard of people spraying 150 on pump 93, seems like detonation is the key thing to avoid. For head gaskets as well as the pistons.

Re: Head Gaskets

The ubiquitous FelPro should be fine. If you aren't going to have the heads off for some other reason I would just stick with the stockers until (and if) there is a problem.

Re: Head Gaskets

I'm runnin felpro "performance" gaskets and have never blown one... (300 shot )

I'm not sure what the part number is for your application, but the stockers should hold up fine on 150 shot...
