good gear for N20

I have a 3.23/3.73/4.10 which would be best to run with a 150 shot off the line threw the shifts!I have the 3.73 in it now and the posi is shot and the rear is howing bad. so the 3.73 might be bad too. but I have a moser 12 bolt with a 4.10 gear but dont want the 4.10 in an A4 car. I might put the 12 bolt in and run it for a while then go to a 3.42 gear. I guss what I am really wanting to know is what gear would be best for running in the 1/4 on the spray. TIA

I have 3.70's in my 9" and have been very pleased with them. Highway RPM's are great.and it launches like mad on nitrous.
So i would say stick with 3.73

well A4s love 3.73s
and M6s love 4.10s

4.10s are just too much for a A4 on the highway but i am putting a 4.10 in my IROC with a T56/ M6

BFG 275/50/15 Drag Radials at 14psi and they come out to 26.1 inches tall and 10.5 inches wide and they are very sensistive to the heat of the track and you always have to adjust the pressure but i have heard great things about M/T ET STREET slicks (26/11.5/15) i have a couple of friends with them

3.73's should be good, you might run out of gear with 4.10's.

Good Luck

I have been running 3.42's and they work great on the spray but not so great on motor. Best pass is 12.37 on motor so I will swapping a set of 4.10's in and going to spray too but I bet it won't hurt anything just harder to hookup and I won't be running no drag radials either They have a guy in LS! tech that runs 12.teens on motor and 10.80's on the gas with an A4 and 4.30 gears. He shifts into overdrive in the 1/4 The idea is to be at the end of your power right before the end of the 1/4mi. and younwill have awesome et's. You could put it in nuetral at the 1000' mark and still run a good et. Just my .02. Later

I had 4.10 gears in my A4 car until I broke them at the track, and I run a 175 shot. I use MT ET Streets 26x11.5x16, and I go through the traps at the top of third gear. It's almost perfect. My best time so far is 11.63@118.

I put in the 3.23 gears and picked up .14 ran a 8.32 last friday with 3.73 this week I ran a 8.19 on motor I ran a 7.500 on a 150 shot wich was a little better than last week's 7.509 but my 60ft times were alittle off this time with the 3.23's track wasnt hooking all that good.Plus the gas milage is better and car is alot more drivable at 70-80mph I am keeping the 3.23's

I have to agree on the streetabiltiy of higher gears but I don't see anyone p/u et by going to a higher gear. Maybe your 3.73's were giving you probs. I will post results of before and after shortly. I will be swapping gears this weekend and maybe make it to the track if I am lucky or will have to wait untill next weekend. The best I could do is 7.87 1/8th N/A and 7.29 N20 et's. I need to be in the 7.50-60's on motor and 6.90-7.00 range on n20. They have some fast streetcars down here that really want to beat my car but it won't be easy I have some cam change fever going on

the 3.73 felt faster but as far as a problem I dont think I had one. my car just likes the 3.23 better.

I would say 3.42 in an A4......no more than 3.73. My car is a M6 and the 3.73s were perfect when I had the hotcam and a 125 shot. I was going thru the traps at 6100rpms in 4th.
