Post Freezing bottle before pumping?

Is there any advantage to freezing the bottle before filling with a filling station? I could see it lowering the pressure but don't see the advantage when it is being forced in. Thanks

you can fit more in ,the bottle
when its too warm the pressure is too high
so you cant get that much in it
but if its cold you can get up 3lb more maybe even 4lbs when its cold like out of the freezer.

I would be carefull adding extra pounds to a bottle. The bottles are designed to have a certain amount of space for N2O gas to form. The pressure from the gas is what forces the liquid N2O out of the bottle on use. If you reduce that area your bottle pressure will drop rapidly on the first shot effectivly giving you a "rich" condition and reduction in HP.

After you make a pass and use up those extra pounds the bottle condition should return to normal. But, you are not getting the full potential out of the extra pounds you put in there. Just a thought.

I chill mine down in a cooler before getting it filled. It speeds the process up. You can safely put 11-12 pounds the bottle when chilled.

Besides being able to squeeze an extra pound or 2 in the bottle, you will get a better fill by freezing the bottle(less air).

you dont have to freeze it but it should be colder then room temp. this will speed up the filling process and you will get more nitrous and less air. half hour in a freezer is plenty

Freezing a bottle is generally used when a "pump" is not being used to fill the bottle. When the bottle is chilled, it will accept the transfer of nitrous from a bottle(source) that is warmer, and of higher pressure. If you are using a nitrous pump, the only time it really would make a difference, is on a very hot day. Chilling the bottle will keep the pressure lower, so the pump doesnt have to work as hard. You should notice that the bottle is always warm right after it is filled. On an extremely hot day, like here in California, sometimes the bottle pressure gets so high while filling, that I have to release some pressure, and continue filling. I wouldnt worry about chilling the bottles on a regular basis though. It wont make any performance difference.

Thanks for all the replies. After filling a few bottles on a warm day it makes it much easier to have the small bottle chilled. Makes me wonder on some why I didn't just by a transfer line and siphon feed. Thanks guys.
