First venture into N20 and LT1's
First venture into N20 and LT1's
This is my first post, though I have been lurking and reading the board for a while. I am swapping a LT1/T56 combo into my 1989 Mazda RX7 (2900#'s soaking wet
). I have sourced a built LT1 engine to put into the car, the engine has manley sportsman rods, SRP Pistons, as well as ARP studded mains with a nitrided stock crank. It is also running a hotcam kit with the 1.6rr. As for fuel I am using a Walbro 255HP pump, and the (for now) stock RX7 fuel feed and return, these lines are around 5/16's. All of my expierience has been with small displacment turbo engines (and rotarys at that!), so I am looking for suggestions here.
I have seen people shooting up to 200hp on stock bottom ends. However I have also heard from alot of local chevy guys that its just not safe even with the built bottom end I will be running. I would REALLY like to hit close to 500rwhp on the juice. I also have read about distrobution problems with large shots, would a plate with a bar help this (such as the Barry Grant/NW plate) or so I just need to look into direct port for a large shot like a 200shot?
Any advice/help is greatly appreciated!
Daniel

Re: First venture into N20 and LT1's
It sounds to me like you have a pretty stout bottom end that would handle 200 shot without a problem!!! One of the best kits for the LT1 would be the NX MAF kit (if the engine is newer than 93), or the GM Gemini Twin Dual Nozzle system. With either one of these systems, on a 200 shot I wouldn't see distribution as an issue.
If kryckter sees this post, he should be able to help you out as well.... He's pretty knowledgable about nitrous and LT1's...
If you have any more questions, shoot me a pm...

Re: First venture into N20 and LT1's
THanks for the reply, the engine is a 94 so the MAF kit would work no problem. My only other problem with a big shot is traction. THe car has a 4.10 rear (No avaliable gear changes) and the largest tire I can get out back is a 275 drag radial (car has brand new Nitto 555R's on it now). I feel if I hit a 200shot hard and all at once on the street I'll just end up crawling out of a ditch.

I also saw that plate and was wondering if anyone had any expirience with it, I could just run 2 cold fusion nozzles.
I do not really care about it being hidden, I just want it to work as it should. I also forgot to add the static compression on the motor is right around 10.3:1.
Thanks Again.

Re: First venture into N20 and LT1's
My personal opinion on that plate is that the nozzles are way to close to the front runners.
Im afraid it would have distribution problems. On a 200 shot,Thats really not that big of a shot. You could get away with using the standard NX single Nozzle kit with out any problems.

You can put 17x26x11 inch MT ET streets, they also have 16's. These are really only 9.5 inch wide tires as MT measures outside of tire, where it is at its widest which is where the tires bulbs out on the sidewalls.
