Spoolin,

They had a custom grind cam, hogged Canfields, and a dual stage setup. Ran pure racegas on the bottle, and had a second 1gallon fuel cell up front for the second stage.

No one really knows what shot it was, they admit to 300+. Just goes to show Nitrous can be half way safe if done right..

What all this is getting at is...My friend is putting a set of stage 2 stock LT1 heads (2.00/1.60) and a cc306 in his car this weekend, and Im wondering how much he will be able to hit it with.

He previously made 494rwhp with boltons LT4 hotcam and Hooker Longtubes on a custom dual fogger plate. That was with 350rwhp on motor(144whp shot of N20).
THEN http://midnightautowerks.com/ProjectCars/LT1/pics.html
Now he has a TNT F2 kit and gained 112 to the wheels on a 100shot. Hes hoping for 400rwhp on motor with the new heads/cam and he is afraid to spray it with more than the 100 shot jets. Im trying to find him some insurance.
NOW http://xmesh.veriotraining.org/Nick/erik/New%20Folder/

How well would the stock bottom end handle 570-600 to the wheels?

I think anything over 500rwhp is on the ragged edge for a stock bottom end motor. I was making right at 500 on my stock bottom end and it held up fine. I tore the motor apart to put new heads on it and then decided I wanted to build a monster so I tore it all the way down. I think the stock bottom end can hold up to more than 500, but any detonation will grenade the motor. It all depends on the setup and how safe it is. I think the motor will hold 600rwhp if it doesnt see detonation..

Just my 2 cents.

Which precautions do you recomend to eliminate detonation.
I know some type of logging software or a scanmaster is needed to monitor the engine, and also timing should be pulled for a 150 or more shot and higher octane fuel will help. Anything else?

This is from Russ Ehtridge to a mailing list, those that went to the GMHTP BO shootout will know him, changes from the shootout is a stock 'glass hood. Also on his N2O runs he was on the limiter on top of 4th so he got out of the juice. Not sure how much this affects the run but I would think he could pick up a tenth or more. Not sure about the weight on these runs.

Posted from Russ E:
Decided to go run at Commerce last night. The weather must have run
everybody off because there was really only about 20 cars running last
night. Longest I had to wait was 5 minutes to run. Heres a summary of
my runs:

Street tires/on motor Et Streets/Motor
60 ft......2.07 60ft......1.702
330 ft.....5.565 330ft.....5.130
1/8 ET.....8.437 1/8 ET....7.975
1/8 MPH....85.71 1/8 MPH...86.54
1000 ft....10.909 1000 ft...10.435
1/4 ET.....12.999 1/4 ET....12.511
1/4 MPH....107.66 1/4 MPH...108.44

ET STREETS/SPRAYIN

60 ft.....1.513
330 ft....4.606
1/8 ET....7.185
1/8 MPH...95.95
1000 ft...9.400
1/4 ET... 11.279
1/4 MPH...119.37

Hooked wicked awesome, never turned the tires over. I also had a
problem with not having enough gear. It was hitting the rev limiter at
6400 about the last 150 or so feet of the track. Guy at the ticket
booth didnt say anything about not having a roll bar!!!

I then drove the hour and fifteen minute dive back home with the A/C on
and stereo crankin, 'cause its a real street car!!!

I know about the 4 degrees of timing. We talked to TNT and thats what they recommended. Just trying to figure out what the hell all these guys are doin. Cant you tell by the screen name who it is?

I think the car should have more mph than Russ's being that it went 118.99 traps (first run out) on the stock fuel pump(bucking down the track) with the 494rw.

It looks like the fastest on the stock bottom end is 136mph...I guess Erik wont be taking that record anytime soon!

BTW, I never ran my old setup at the track, but I put a car on a guy that went 11.8 at 125..

I was running heads, cam, long tube headers, cold air, 58mmtb, and a 175 shot. I had a Digital 6 pulling 6 degrees of timing on the bottle, and was on pump gas..

I am running stock untouched heads, stock cam and stock intake and a 100 shot with the TNT plate and have gone 11.520 117.13 mph. This was done at a 3920 race weight in a convertible. My 60 ft was 1.59, but im still trying to get it to hook.Im hoping for 11.30's with a 60ft somewhere in the 1.52 range.

Has anyone ever sprayed 150 with the TNT plate on a stock engine?

The car I have been talking about will be running tonight and we will probally hit it with the 150 jets on a TNT F2 kit some time this week. I'll let you know.

Unhappy

IT BROKE!!!!

And it was running so well.

I cant believe the timing.. One day after finishing the Cam and Heads the darn thing is knocking BAD. It is diffently the bottom end. It seems that i should have put in a high pressure oil pump. If anyone knows where i can get parts quality cheap let me know. If i can afford it i am going to do crank, rods, and pistons. Tommrow i start pulling the motor back out of the car.

For pics of the install http://www.xmesh.veriotraining.org/Nick/eriks/
