Direct port w/nitrous ONLY

i'm going to add fuel through the 83lb/hr fuel injectors with my programmable F.A.S.T. ecu... i don't want the complexity/money of the extra fuel lines, solenoids, pressure regulator, etc... so the question is, what nozzle would work best for a direct port nitrous-only setup?

Doesn't your sig say 500 hp NAAAAASSS? Anyway NX makes nozzles that only have one inlet. I havent seen a NX part yet that isn't high quality so that's what I'd do.

actually it says "50hp NOS"... right now i'm running a single NOS nozzle (nitrous only) in the intake tubing (its the mustang dry kit w/o the fuel pressure increaser)... but before i step up to 150+hp i want to have better distribution than the single nozzle... do you have a part number for the NX nitrous-only nozzle? i looked at their website and all the nozzles i saw had nitrous and fuel ports...

Jeff,

I've never seen an NX Single Nozzle like you're looking for but I know NOS makes them:

http://www.nosnitrous.com/HiOctn/Pro...A/FanNozl.html

TNT also has one, though I'm sure NOS' is more of a proven entity. I'd link ya to it, but they have cookies on their site... Its right on their front page in the middle.

www.Nitrous-Power.com

Good luck!

I happen to work for Nitrous Express and we don't have a nozzle that sprays only nitrous. But if nitrous is the only thing you want to spray we do have a system that connects to the front of your intercooler and sprays a dense cloud of n2o that reduces the incoming air even more. This system is good for 50hp. Hope this helps.

I use two of the NOS PN 13500 "fan-jet" nozzles to spray 300HP into the outlet of a WS6 ram air box, and use a MoTeC M48Pro to add the fuel, via 64# injectors running at 58psi. The cylinder-to-cylinder distribution is extremely uniform, based on numerous engine dyno and chassis dyno tuning pulls.

NITROUS NOZZLES

Alternatively, the shop that built and tuned my engine has used the new NOS NOSzles for direct port, nitrous only injection. They use that setup on their own sub 7.0-second PRO 5.0 car. That system uses a MoTeC M880.

Fred, that's excellent to hear!

this is my current setup (red arrow shows where the single NOS fan nozzle is right now, it wasn't installed when i took the pic):

based on your results, it sounds like i wouldn't even need to go with a fogger... i'm only looking to run about 200hp max... see any problems with two nozzles in the location i'm using?

thanks!

My original approach was to get a Vortech aluminum intake elbow, and use that with a conventional "CAI" setup, pulling air from the fender. I was going to put the nozzles in the elbow. But that meant removing the dividing wall (since I was originally looking at a 2-stage system). Even after machining out the dividing wall, the Vortech elbow looked a little anaemic for a N/A stroker. Then I asked about a plate behind the TB, and they told me it would cause major distribution problems, that could be solved with the MoTeC's individual cylinder fuel and timing trims, but why give up power on the cylinder(s) that aren't getting enough juice....

So, I decided that was a good enough excuse to drop the coin for the Ram Air hood and the airbox, which I had always wanted but couldn't justify .

Anyway, I think that you should be OK where you have it. The further away you are from the TB, the better it will be. You could even inject before the intercooler, but that would reduce the delta temp on the intercooler and reduce its efficiency a little.

i was originally planning to put it before the intercooler... however, you have the downside of the fuel hitting before the nitrous makes it to the motor if the nozzle is too far out... when the computer turns the nitrous off you'll have the same thing but it will be a potentially more dangerous problem -- no more fuel enrichment but a whole intake tract full of n2o coming your way... i think both of our locations are a good compromise between giving the mixture enough time to cool and mix and also not having it take too long before the nitrous starts (or stops)...
