Re: ColdFusion direct port through injector adapter

How would you use it on an LT1? Seems to me the fuel rail(s) would then be raised... guess some spacers and longer bolts?

I have one of the NOS brand kits with the manifold and all hardware on ebay. You do have to space the fuel rails up and shorten the cross over.

Looks similar to what NOS offers with their NOSzels kit. So the same question of how does it impact the injector spray pattern still applies.

Re: ColdFusion direct port through injector adapter

The NOS version does not effect spray pattern of the injectors at all.

I doubt that. Just look at this picture. The injector has to sit very high up to allow for the Noszles to fit in. IMHO it's looks pretty chintzy kit to begin with, and I still can't understand the market for it. You could pay someone to tap your intake for a proper direct port setup and use a regular DP kit for the same money. Anyone that NEEDS to have a direct port setup should have already pulled their intake for other mods anyway, so pulling it shouldn't be an issue.

The guys that built my engine (and George Baxter's) at Second Street Speed use the NOSzle system in their 7-second Pro 5.0 Mustang. They did extensive dyno testing to insure that the NOSzles did not affect the injectors in any negative way. They do use it only for nitrous injection, since they prefer dry systems.

Re: ColdFusion direct port through injector adapter

I wouldn't of said it if it wasn't true. I've run the car with and without them and it makes no difference what so ever. The injector spray pattern is very tight just out of the injector.

Although that setup would seem to narrow the spray pattern, if extensive testing has been done to prove otherwose, than I'll believe that.

However, if does basically cost the same to do a direct port system, what would be the reason to go with the NOSzle OR Cold Fusion kit?

Re: ColdFusion direct port through injector adapter

The reason is that a fuel injector is aimed at the valve for better fuel control. A Fogger (or other brand nozzle) needs to be positioned in the port properly to work its best. This is hard in a LT1 manifold with such a short port & the injector being stuck in the prime area. All other locations are somewhat a compromise as the spray should not be directed at the port wall, but at the valve. The NOSzle system follows the same path as the injector & the injector pattern is only affected by the extra height..... the fuel should go straight through the NOSzle without ruining the pattern.

Thanks! Are these setups as simple as they seem as far as installation, or are there some problems with running it on an LT1?

Re: ColdFusion direct port through injector adapter

They are pretty easy. When you space the rails up the crossover has to be shortened a bit. I cut mine and brazed it back together. The adapters that come in the LS1 noszle kit will work with some minor grinding. ; )

Re: ColdFusion direct port through injector adapter

So instead of tapping 8 small holes in an aluminum intake, you have to cut and braze your fule line cross-over tube?

Doesn't seem like much of an advantage. :/

hmmm....
