i don't follow, your not running and fuel noid or adding extra fuel via the injectors???

As far as the MAF, it measures air flow by the temp of the wire in the airstream, so nitrous would cool it down which would make it think there is more air. However, I am uncertain if that would contribute to a increase in fuel deliver sufficient for your needs. I would say it would not be at all significant.

4 tenths is equivalent to a 40 shot, which IMO you still need more fuel, more fuel then a tricked MAF can deliver.

Spraying through the MAF sensor seems to work fine on the LS1... that is the way the NOS 5177 kit is set up. The important thing is to spray well before the MAF, so the nitrous is fully vaporized and mixed into the air charge before it hits the sensing elements. But, NOS claims this works on the LS1 only because 1) the PCM has a very fast processor, and 2) the PCM stays in closed loop.... but I've had LS1 owners deny item 2. I only know a buddy of mine runs 10.8@126 on a 99 SS with a 125-shot on stock programming, with 30# injectors and an inline fuel pump.

Your LT1 seems to be a different case... the PCM is alledgedly slower, and we know it does not stay in closed loop at WOT. So, NOS does not use that approach on their 5176 dry kit.... they bump the fuel pressure for the extra fuel.

I have seen posts from at least 2 people on this forum who claim to have successfully sprayed an LT1 through the MAF. But I haven't seen either of them post in response to this general question when its been asked over the past few months.

Well my homemade dry system is going on tomorrow,so i will post back w some results.Remember I am only using a very small jet so if the pcm richens things up a little it will work.

Well with the .036 jet the car picks up[on the g-tech for now]7 tenths & 5mph w drag radials-launching w the n2o.Very smooth,mild shot-no detonation.Guess Ill back of the jetting for my 4 tenths I originally wanted.

you are nuts.... it is only a matter of time when you get some ****ty air, and a tad bit of detonation, cause that LT1 Maf is SLOW... there is a reason why ALL LT1 dry kits are vacume operated.. not MAF reliant.... Fork out the other 120 bucks and do a wet kit.... why skimp out on something like this can can totally blow your car up, because you are doing a budget dry kit...

is it the MAF that's slow or the PCM? If it's the MAF, then what if you put an LS1/LS6 MAF on your LT1?

I ran the same type of dry kit for over 2 yrs without probs and have put it on 2 other cars. My take on it is the stock lt1 is setup really rich from the factory and to add cold air(N20) on top of that it gets richer in PE mode. I ran 12.60's@110mph with a full weight T/A. Stone stock except for Flowmaster muffler no catback, gutted converter and RamAir hood and airbox on radials(not dragradials).
I would reccomend this mod to anyone with a LT1. BTW the car ran 13.80's-14.00's@98-100mph depending on conditons N/A. I went with a wetkit when I rebuilt my Lt1 b/c it using all the fuel with stock injectors just on motor. I beat up on all the Ls1's around I had the kit hidden. It is easy to hide one solenoid and line thats it. This was before people were modding the hell out the LS1's too. I think I had a 57 N20 jet. Later and goodluck.

Hey t/a Lt-1 guy-you are so right! The kit works great I run a smallish .037 jet about 6-8 inches in front of the air meter,I also use the Tr-6's gapped at .040 w a msd 6a[for what its worth]Never had a problem,in fact I run my n2o button into an old cell phone charger, which means I just plug it in the lighter & go.With this small jet & a cold n2o bottle[800psi]My car picks-up 7 tenths & 5 mph.12.90 off & 12.30 on the juice.Quick, easy no muss no fuss.:

I've sprayed like that before when I had a 6-speed in my car. I went from roughly 8.6 @ 87mph to 8.2 @ 93mph (street tires)on what I think it was a .047 jet. I didn't spray like that long because I just didn't trust it for some reason.....I never had any detonation or any other reason to really worry tho.
