Can excessive bottle heat.......
Make the Nitrous feel like there is no shot at all??? My bottle is mounted in the hatch(right in the sun), but my back glass is VERY dark. I have a NOS blanket on the bottle and I have been having trouble trying to use nitrous after work. I will hit the button and I feel nothing!!!! WHen I purge it..I get the usual shower of white smoke, but I am guessing that the temp of the bottle is the culprit. I know that 1050 psi is what you want, but my guage cannot be put on until this weekend(gotta get a coupling for the hose)....What are your thoughts????
Thanks

yes, too much pressure can cause your nitrous solenoid to not be able to open. I have seen this around 1200 psi. I always use a heavy duty relay and run 10 gauge wire to the solenoids to eliminate any voltage drop. I have also seen this from the solenoids getting too hot due to engine heat, but usually not until they get older...

Mine are older.... But I think you are right on the money with the 1200 psi thought!! Which is a good thing I guess...Too much pressure and you run to lean..NOT GOOD FOR THE OLE TPI

Oh yeah...What about this idea I had. I am going to run some dekron tubing from A/C duct to the bottle!!! Tap a hole into duct, plumb dekron into it with fitting, run it nice and hidden to bottle, run dekron under blanket and VOILA...You have heard of bottle heaters, How about a bottle cooler!!!! Also good for going to get it filled. I am toying with the idea and would like your input!!!

I think the 1st thing you need to do is get that pressure gauge installed and see if excess pressure is indeed your problem. If you silinoids are older ones you may want to consider getten a couple of new ones.

I have a black Z28 in south Texas, I have been leaving the bottle in the car and it gets hot as hell in the car. My pressure isn't usually anywhere near 1100 PSI. Once I open the bottle and purge it it usually around 1000, so yep get that gauge hooked up and find out if the pressure is high.
WEll I put the guage on yesterday(at about 2:00 P.M. HOT!!!) and my suspicions were proven. My bottle pressure was at 1400 PSI!!! Now....Without using a damp towel, How would you go about cooling bottle or keeping by bottle cool without moving from location(back glass).
Thanks for all your help and my A/C idea did not work

Why waste time/effort in trying to cool the bottle down if your going to leave it sitting in direct sunlight?
First thing id do is move the bottle....... I never have over pressure problems with mine.......

I have my bottle mounted in the T-Top area and have it wrapped with a towel. Before I leave to go to work I take 2 of those frozen Blue Ice bottles out of the freezer and throw them in a wally world bag. When I get to work I pop open the hatch and lay the bag with the Blue Ice in it on top of the towel wrapped around my bottle, then I cover them with a heavy beach towel folded up just big enough to cover the bottle and bag of blue ice.
Usually when I get off work my bottle pressure is still under 1100,,,,,,,,and the temp inside the car is hot enough you wouldn't keep your hand on the Hurst T handle any longer than it takes to shift.

Well now that the gauge is on...I tried to hit it at 1000 PSI....Not Good..Started to jerk a little then a backfire!!!!! I was like WHOA. The next morning looked at pressure and it was at 700 PSI. Hit it and pulled as usual. I guess the max you can go with the NOS kit is 950 (as stated in the booklet).
