Bolt-Ons Only; 10.99's Possible w/ 150 shot??

Well the car was just in GMHTP in the Bolt-On Shootout but I must admit that it wasn't running all that good that day. I've since done no other mods other than adding a NX 100 shot and the car really loves it. I've only been to the 1/4 twice (running 16inch ET Streets with stock wheels, stock wheels up front and stock suspension) with my best timeslip showing

60' 1.62
1/8 7.22@95
1/4 11.35@118

Okay, this is what the car still needs
- MSD Ignition
- Skinnies up Front with Weld's and Slicks on back
- Electric WaterPump
- Dyno Tune (Currently running stock tune)
- BMR Relocation Brackets
- Removal of Passenger Seat
- Possibly thinking about AC Delete and PowerSteering Delete
- Upgraded Fuel Pump and 150 shot

So whattya guys think, Can I drop to a 10.99 with those mods? I'm guessing with just the weight removal from the stock wheels to welds that I should drop my 60 into the 1.5's and therefore 11.2's shouldn't be a problem. Then the addition of the 50 extra shot of N20 which it should take easily, I should be getting on down there. I also haven't had the chance to leave on the button yet, I'm thinking that will help as well.

What do you guys think and how many Bolt-On Cars (Stock Cam, Stock heads, Stock Bottom End cars have made it into the 10's??

BJ

With those mods and the extra juice, i think you should be able to get there. I haven't heard of any guys getting into the 10's with stock internals and a stock rear end (that doesn't mean it hasn't been done though). Good luck!

Stock Rear End, haha; That's the main reason I haven't hit it out of the hole yet. I usually wait until I get going, usually 15 or so feet out at best before I get on the button. I've never really been able to leave on the button without serious wheelspin but I'm gonna try it sometime soon

I think you can. I was on my way to doing it,till the car lost ALL kinds of power. Im done for the year, along with my assualt on the 10's with a stock longblock.
Your 1/8 is only .10 off my best and i went 11.25 with a 7.13 1/8.

What's going on Dirk? Seeing your car at the shootout being killed by the weather (just like mine) and then running those killer times on the juice had me wondering what mine would do. I guess you helped me make this decision

So what happened with the car? Did you break something or bend some pushrods or something? Let me know what happened and what you think caused it. Trying to avoid everything overhere...

Narrowed it down to valvesprings. the 1.6 RR's and extra revs on stock 61k mile springs was too much for the ol girl. If you do the rockers, make sure you do the springs..dont cheap out like me.

Also make sure you keep good plugs in it,and get the MSD or some sort of retard. Im **** about the car when i go to spray it,and i ALWAYS run 104 unleaded, weather it be VP or Sunoco (cheap insurance).

New plans call for a solid roller 355 with a BUNCH of spray.

Rockafella, I think you'll hit 10.99's with the 150 shot and a good 60'. If not, hell go with the 175 shot

So far my car run 11.16 @ 122 with a 150 shot, bolts-on and the LT4 HotCam. Still using the stock bottom and stock rear end with 3.42, skinnies, ET Drags, & PI 2800. Nothing feels better than hitting the nitrous out of the whole

I still got to tune a litte more, but if I don't hit 10's I may jump to to 3.73's or 4.10's.

Are you running a 6-speed or AT? What gears are you running?

So nobody knows of any other Stock heads/cam/bottom end car that's broke into the 10's? If that's the case, then I might stress it a little more, but if it's been done a dozen times, then it just wouldn't be that big of a deal to me.

Sorry, my sig's a little non-descriptive, I just figured everybody probably had the gmhigh-tech mag The car's a 96Z with an auto trans, 2800 vigi, 3.73's, custom cai, jet hot hooker lt's and a custom exhaust. I still have a lot of things to do, but I kinda wanna do this with as few mods as possible so I'm gonna start with ignition and weight reduction, then possibly the 150 shot and go from there...

Thanks for the encouragement guys, I figured there would a lot more nay sayers than this...

hey man good luck

out here in the midwest i think ive seen maybe two cars that can run in the tens with bolts and spray (and keep from chucking the rearend)
hope to see it though good luck

if you ever make it out to chi town let me know it would be fun to see some of the cars from out there square off against some of the cars around here.

later jimbo

I think its completely doable.

My Z28 went 11.59@120mph, on the stock Converter w/ a semi Rich Nitrous Express 150hp system. I know there was a couple tenths in the converter alone.

This was w/ hardly any weight reduction. Front Sway Bar, Jack/Spare are basically it. Full Interior'd T-Top, Power Seat, Loaded car.

Making the power isn't too much of a problem just putting the right setup together, and putting power to the ground.

Go for it!
