Blow downtube

Any suggestions on making a custom blow down tube? Ive heard of using hydraulic line but what fittings do i need to conect it to the bottle? My bottles on the ledge behind the back seat and im wanting to run it down into the spare tire well and out the hole in the bottom.

Re: Blow downtube

You need at least a 1/2" diameter pipe to relieve the pressure. I run an -8AN braided hose. The blowoff connection on the NOS bottles is -8AN, and I have an -8AN bulkhead fitting screwed into the floor of the hatch area for the braided hose to connect to.

Re: Blow downtube

The Aeroquip Bulkhead Adapter Fittings can be had for a little less ($9 or so), but either should work. You'll need a blow down fitting for your bottle ( http://www.harrisspeedworks.com/shop/home.php?cat=329 ) and a lot of our customers go with our custom 8an hose for a real clean look. Let me know if you have any questions or anything.

Thanks,
Matt

Yea thats what my pm to you was about. I was looking at the custom hose and such so i will be purchasing that from you shortly. I am gonna look around town for a bulkhead fitting cause shipping for a $10 piece is as much as the fitting itself. Either of those two bottle fittings from the link above will work right?

Re: Blow downtube

I have a lot of Aeorquip stuff in my system, but I don't remember the specifics of the one used to for through the floor of the hatch well.

As I mentioned in the response to your PM, you didn't need the expensive "high flow fuel cell bulkhead fitting" you were looking at. That has a radiused inlet on the open side to provide smooth fuel flow out of a fuel cell..... that's why it is so expensive. You just need a basic -8AN bulkhead fitting, like the one from Earls. The only purpose of the fitting is to hold the end of the hose in place... not like it holds a lot of pressure or needs to be some "high tech" piece. I suspect Summit or JEG's has them with their own name on it for low $$$$.
