Blow down tube installation?

Alright I understand why you woudl have a blow down tube.

My question is how do you install it? Do you just unscrew this cap(see pic) and screw the tube on and have it lead out the car somehow?

Jsut making sure it is right and I don't just empty the bottle by doing the wrong thing

You will need an adapter first then you can install the tube.Use a thru bulkhead 'AN' fitting to go thru the floor.

Yes, this is removed and below it is a rupture disc that is discarded. Use a new rupture disc (should come with the tube) and tight the disc down with a good torque wrench to the specified value. This will ensure that the disc gets ruptured at the design rupture pressure.

So if one were to remove it and the bottle was full it woudl likely discharge the bottle?

I am assuming this if you remove teh rupture disc.

Yes, if you remove that fitting with the bottle full, all the nitrous will come out. You need to purchase another fitting that's specifically made to hook a blow-down tube to, and unfortunately your bottle will need to be empty when you hook up this fitting. I can't remember a name or part number for it - it'll be a standard NOS part.

Re: Blow down tube installation?

The NOS fitting that screws onto the male threads under the blowoff diffuser cap in the picture is P/N 16170. Includes the adapter fitting, a new rupture disc, and a new diffuser cap on a tether that helps prevent the bottle from spinning wildly, should the disc rupture while the bottle is being transported loose.

You can also attach an -8AN braided hose to the new fitting, if that's how you want to vent the system, rather than using the rigid blowdown tube.
