blow down tube.

Can I use a rubber fuel line with a clamp on one end to extend this about 4 inches?

I don't know the real answer but in seems like 1000psi would blow the rubber hose off. If there was a way, you could extend it with some hard line.

I'll try, but to me, it looks like this fuel line would be able to hold more pressure than this flimsy metal tube.

The problem is going to be keeping the hose on the aluminum blowdown tube. You would have to flare the tube and put the rubber hose clamp past the flare. Just because you have 1,800psi in the bottle (that's where the disc ruptures), the pressure is reduced as it comes out the valve, and approaches atmospheric as it nears the end of the tube.

Another approach is to put a "bulkhead" fitting through the floor, and use a braided S/S hose in place of the blowdown tube:

Well, that looks better, but i'll just try bending the blow down tube to work....then maybe try the braided line.

I've got the same problem. Where I mounted my bottle, the b/d tube won't reach. Does anyone know what size tubing that is? Can I buy some from some place like home depot & bend my own?

Thx

Definitely the cleanest way to do it, but I calculated about $60-70 worth of fittings and lines .

thats a long *** line to have 70$ in lines. a 16 foot line is about 50 and a bulkhead fitting is like 6-7

90º -8 swivel fitting (15), -8 straight fitting (5), -8 bulkhead fitting (5), bulkhead nut (5), 3' -8 line (15).

45 bucks right there. I would use a 90º bulkhead fitting (15) to make a cleaner mount and that would add about 10 bucks. My apologies... I forgot that I included the price of the safety valve (20) in that price as I had actually priced out a blowdown setup earlier this week.

Is a flexible line kosher for the drag strip? I thought I remembered somewhere it had to be a "rigid line" to the outside of the vehicle?
