Better safe than sorry

I was wondering what would be safe to spray in a 97' LT1.A 50,100, or a 150 dry shot of nitrous. I don't want to rebuild my LT any time soon.A pic of a dry nos setup would be nice too.I hope someone with some experience can give me some advice. MIke

well, first off, im gonna go ahead and recommend that you get a WET kit, not a DRY. there are many reasons for this of which i dont really feel like going into right now, but i think youll find that most people on here will agree with me.

that aside, you should be fine on a completely stock car to 150. ive seen people go higher on stock internals, but its insane really. i would stick with a 100 and save the 150s for special occassions/grudge matches/etc.

lastly, regardles of the shot, EVENTUALLY you WILL need to do a "minor" rebuild to freshen up your motor if you decide to go this route. how long one can go before they need to do this depends soley on the user. if your always running the biggest shot or if you flip the switch for every honda with a wing, youll need it sooner rather than later. nitrous just puts more stress on seals/rings/etc and they will need to be replaced eventually. some people do it every year, others go 2+ before they tear it down. either way its somthing you WILL need to be saving for or thinking about down the road.

any more Qs, dont be afraid to ask!

I've been using nitrous for about 10 years,i hope that counts for some experiance.

The LT1 can handle a 150 shot,BUT the main problem with that size shot on a Dry Kit tends to make the injectors go "static". aka, locked and can cause a lean condition.
I personally prefer a wet system for a basic LT1 setup,it is MUCH easier to tune the fuel with a wet system, and the injectors get no added strain.

Just my .02 cents, but I will put in another vote for the WET kit. Basicly for the same reasons the other 2 people have posted. Oh and FYI, I sprayed the 150 shot enough that I went through close to 15 full bottles in the period of about 2 summers worth and everything was fine. Just make sure that you have all the necessary safety swithches, and everything is installed the right way I dont have that car anymore but I do know who does, and it's still running fine today. (Not counting that the guy who owns it now had to replace the tranny )
