Bad day at the dyno....

well my NX wet kit finally got installed, and before i left the shop they guy that installed my kit put my car on the dyno to see what it was putting out. Well nothing bad happened, my car is fine, its just the numbers we got back were horrible. On the first 2 base line runs it put out an average of 256 HP and 303 TQ. After that we armed the nitrous. It had the jets for a 100hp shot. The jets we used were .047N and .027F. That should of been good for 100Hp but it only put out 273hp and 386tq. The air/fuel meter showed that i was running rich. The graph shows that it started out fine but got extremly rich, like 10:1 in some places on the graph. I dont understand all this and i am wondering what would cause this to happen? should i reduce the size of the fuel jet to like a .02? or up the nitrous? i was running at 1000PSi in the bottle, and i know the nozzel had both nitrous and fuel coming out of it.
I'm sorry if i sound like an idiot, this is the first time i've had nitrous on my car.
Oh my car was throwing a check engine light and i got it scanned and its because my car doesnt have any cats on it, that was the only code. and now that i look at it i was running rich on the first 3 runs, they all started at like 12.5:1 and ended up at 11.6:1
thanks for all your help

did you use a box to retard the timing at all?

What kinda car is it? I know my car is a dog with the CEL on and my buddys 98 Z28 is a REAL dog with the CEL on. And his was triped b/c of his O2's so it might be something you want to take a look at.

Re: Bad day at the dyno....

oh ya i forgot, yes i am usine a Malory 685 ignition box, at first we were taking out 4 degrees, then we tried to take out only 2 degrees. nothing worked. i'm not using the built in window switch that it has either.
and my car is a 97 z28. its relativley stock, no headers, just a flowmaster catback, CAI, Underdrive pulley, and LT4 KM.
whats that CEL thing you were talking about? and how do i disable it or fix it?

Yeah my buddys 98 was such a dog with his CEL on and it was b/c of his O2's So I would look at that since you are a OBD2 car just like him.

Re: Bad day at the dyno....

ok cool thanks for the help, the code that it threw was like left bank catalitic convert malfunction, but i'm pretty sure the o2's are bad because i run so rich even without the nitrous

Re: Bad day at the dyno....

MY advice is there is no need to pull timing on a 100shot. I would start playing with timing after a 175 shot IMO. For an example I only pull 4* on my 250 shot

I would go back to the dyno and make a pull with no timing modifications and see what she does. If its still extremly rich go down on the fuel jet until its at a normal a/f ratio

Re: Bad day at the dyno....

First of all.The jetting is way wrong.I am assuming this is a single nozzle NX kit.The jetting for a 100 shot at 45 psi is a 52 Nitrous 31 fuel.
If this is alittle rich step down alittle on the fuel jet.The tune will have to be right on motor before you can get it right on Nitrous..If you have any questions let me know.
