Anyone using MSD digital 6?

I am wanting to get one of these ignitions and I know it comes with the retard feature which is great for nitrous, however I was just wondering if I still have to run a window switch. I already have an MSD window switch and I hate having to screw with that low rpm pill. If I still need one, is there one out there that doesn't require the pills? Thanks for any input. Travis

I believe Mallory make a ign box with retard and window switch built in. Check jeg's or Summit.

I have the digital six and you still need a window switch It is nice though it retards the timing automatically with the nitrous

I run the digital6 and NO window switch.

Mallory has window switches that dont need pills, and they also have the ignition box mentioned above.

Forgive me for my ignorance. So if I can find the Mallory unit your talking about, I could just buy one unit and wouldn't need a seperate aftermarket igniton other than just the Mallory?

Correct. I got mine from Jegs. Mallory part #685 Hyfire VI CD with built in window switch and retard. $219. I was gonna have my pics up right now but the guy is supposed to be online given 'em to me and he's not....

I would also suggest a Harlan Window switch. I have his shift light and I'm very impressed (pretty much one of the nicest stand alone shift lights you can buy, and about the least expensive at that!). I have a bud who is running his window switch and likes it as well.

I run an MSD Digital 6+ and an MSD Window Switch. Sadly, I'm on my 3rd Digi 6. First one lasted 2 years then died. MSD replaced it with a new one, free of charge....that lasted about 3-4 months. They replaced it with another new one (free again), and I've used it a little bit, without any problems.

The retard feature is nice on it, as well as not having to use pills to adjust the settings. I'm a big fan of the rev limiter.

Next year, I'm going to try to use the 2nd stage rev-limiter. Only works when 12V is applied. Basically, I'll use it, along with a relay. The relay will basically de-activate the nitrous solenoid even though I may be WOT and in the proper RPM range. Basically, I'll be able to launch at an EXACT RPM, WOT....dump the clutch, and just let go of the button to give me the nitrous. That should help with these damn launches some; just increase/decrease launching RPM on the unit and try again.

How easy is this ignition to hook up? Does Mallory make connectors like MSD to make the unit a direct plug in?

I do that now with the Dig 6 2 step Rpm limiter and a relay and let me tell you something, IT IS AWSOME. IT helps a lot and also gives you the benefit of being able to be at WOT while staged and not wasteting the spray. I also use it to aid in traction. I launch and if the tires dont grab I keep the button down and as soon as they hook I let go. I usually start spraying 10ft out. Saves the 10bolt from all that shock too!
