Am I pushing it?

I have ran a best of 12.45 at 110.29 on a 1.95 60 foot (radial T/A tires). Judging by previous best 60 foots, this means that my car currently could go somewhere around 12.1's or 12.2's at 110-111 mph on a real tire (ET street).

Over the winter, I am pulling the motor apart again. I am going to be switching from the comp XE hydralic flat tappet 274 camshaft (230/236 @.050, .478/.480 w/ 1.5's) to the comp XE solid roller 274 (236/242 @.050, .578/.587 w/ 1.5's). In addition to this, I will be running ISKY solid roller valve springs, adding 2.02/1.6 valves to my vortec heads that I have been running, and will be putting 1.5 roller rockers on my motor in place of the stamped steel pieces of **** that I have been running. I will also be on ET streets next season.

My question is, I am hoping to be running in the mid to high 11's on motor (probably 11.7'ish at 113-114'ish). I have an NOS cheater kit on the motor that has never been used (still looking for a cheap bottle). Do you guys think a 100 shot would be pushing my motor to the edge as far as bottom end strength? This is a modded 350HO crate motor with the original bottom end (hyp pistons, PM rods (good to 450+ hp) and a nodular iron crank.

Thanks guys,

Seth

In a word...yep. GM hypereutectic pistons are not notoriously strong. But, I'd probably give it a shot anyway.

as long as the fuel and ignition systems are up to par,i dont feel you will be pushing that hard.
with those pistons you will HAVE to run good fuel and make sure the tuneup is dead on.

i have run a 175 shot on stock hyp. pistons and no problems.

IMO

100 NOS shot is nothing to LT1s

make sure you have good ignition and fuel system, and a cold plugs. that's all

I am curious about your setup. What mods do you have done to your car? tranny, converter, head work, exhaust, still TPI, etc? What is your raceweight? I have a friend of mine with a 350 HO TPI engine in an 87 Iroc who ran 14.4@102 with a 2.5 60ft time and was wondering what mods he would need to run what you are running.

Currently it is the GMPP 350HO crate engine with the following mods:
shaved heads and thin gaskets giving 9.9:1 compression, the comp XE274 cam, ported and polished vortec cylinder heads, Speed Demon 650 mech secondary carb, victor for vortecs intake, turbo 350, 3000 stall, 3.73's and a zexel torsion posi. It runs consistant 12.4's at 110.X on bald Radial T/A tires.

Which plugs and what gap are you planning on running with the 100 shot?

TR55's are in the car right now gapped at .035. Should I go to TR6's?
