A4 durability on N20

Would a 125 dry shot (zex kit) be safe on a 95 Formula a4 with a bigger fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, cat-back, and cai. Not sure how durable these trans are, but future plans would call for an m6.

Forgot to mention that the car hasn't been abused, and has had rountine maintenance. Along with the trans flush the cooling system and fuel system got the same treatment. Figured the zex is safiest since it doesnt spray until WOT, and I have run it on my t-bird for 3 years.

Trust me on this one...i've seen two guys go through A4's like crazy with N20! You can use it just fine but you WILL NEED a window switch...a very good investment to have so you do not spray through shifts!

Where you running a window switch or praying through the shifts?

Spraying through the shifts. Shift points moved to 6000 rpms.

Are you saying that doing a reprogram (like madz28's) to raise shift points and it should be okay? I dont want to pop the trans too soon since I would like to assemble the parts for a 6 speed for next winter. Can a shift kit help with durability or anything like? For my t-bird you can do a "j-mod" to the trans so it will last longer with big mods and power adders.

Re: A4 durability on N20

A window switch will help but its not gonna save your trans from blowing up if its stock, mine did not even last a full bottle, as far as raing the shift points goes ... well honestly I had done it and then once I had put my car on a dyno and made max power at 5200Rpm I saw no point in having the car shift at 6-6100, and alos once the N20 was on the would not shift from 2-3 due to all the extra power overloading the trans,

Thats my expirience with it others may have had better luck than I did.

Now my new CPT built Race trans should fix all those problems!! hehehe.

Re: A4 durability on N20

would a b&m trans be a good replacement? im thinking now im gonna hook up my kit but not use it until i get a good trans or figure out away to keep it in tact.if that guys trans didnt last a bottle mine wont last a shot it was rebuilt 20,000 miles ago but my luck is crap with power adders.i usually replace alot of stuff to get things right.

Re: A4 durability on N20

Is there anything short of a built trans that will handle a nitrous hit? I would like the use of N20, but I dont want to replace the trans. I am in Denver and at this altitude you already lose a second of your times and nitrous has helped with that alot in the past.

Re: A4 durability on N20

Given the info I am seriously considering NOT going to N20 route. It seems like less people have issues with the trans when running a vortech or turbo.
