5176-eo ??
5176-eo ??
I called NOS because I needed a 5176-EO sticker for emissions and the guy said their kits are no longer carb approved??? wtf. I need a sticker too because I just failed a visual by the state referee.
Re: 5176-eo ??
Call NOS back.... they still have the "E.O." option listed in there 2004 online catalog. They are notorious for giving out faulty info when you call them.

Re: 5176-eo ??
Just print out the eo letter from arb.gov on all you mods. This is what I did to show the smog tech when ever they ask for a eo number. http://arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/eo/D-266.pdf
Re: 5176-eo ??
just talked to NOS again and a different guy this time told me the 05176-eo kits lost their executive order a year ago and kits no longer come w/ a carb sticker................. im thinking of making my own carb sticker. anyone out there can take a pic of it for me so I know kind of what to make?
Re: 5176-eo ??
In Freds NOS link only says that only the Corvette kits have an EO #
So the 5176, etc. kits have apparently lost approval..
HOWEVER one must question HOW! and WHY existing kits LOST the 'approval'? [retroactively? after you BOUGHT it with the 'approval'?]
I understand that CURRENTLY, or for 'future sales', it may have lost the approval, but I am hard pressed to believe that they can 'revoke' it for all the kits they sold all these years?
Now.. does that mean for instance that my Edelbrock shortys [CARB approved] or MSD box etc can just suddenly turn into NON approved at some future date? [Probably due to it won't meet current/new standards etc]
If this is so, I see no point in buying CARB approved items at all!...
We'll all wake up 'tomorrow' and quite possibly nothing will remain 'approved' anyway?.. I believe this to be a rather rediculous/dangerous precedent!..
I feel if it was CARB approved WHEN THEY SOLD it, it should forever be approved for those purchasers [though I am probably wrong]
So the extra $$ it cost to BUY [due to 'research' 'testing', etc to receive that approval] was $$ thrown away?..
I also bet the prices didn't go DOWN due to the current non approval..
Food for thought..
Perhaps a letter to NOS they would clarify it for you fully why it's lost for 'previous purchasers'?
I understand that currently it may not be approved for future dales, I just find it hard to believe they can just revoke the approval 'retroactively'..
If so, there's really no point in trying to satisfy the 'powers that be' by buying CARB approved items.. since the day after you buy it, it may 'lose' approval..
