30# injector question

If you replace the stock injectors with 30# ones, will the computer be able to compensate at part and wot without tuning? It seems like it would just run rich all of time but possibly ok at part throttle with feedback from the O2's. The reason I ask is, I have a 50 dry shot that I would like to use. I figured that the rich condition would be desirable for the shot. I have 2 computers, 1 is stock, and 1 is custom tuned by madz. On NA runs, I use the madz one, and on nitrous days, I could plug in the stock one and run rich I guess. Does this make any sense?

Re: 30# injector question

The stock PCM will cut the long term fuel corrections by 15% max. And the 30's, less 15% (25.5#) is pretty close to the stock setting for the 24# injectors (24.9 #/Hr in PCM). Then the only correction will be the short terms. All of this provides you with a "workable" A/F ratio in closed loop. But when you go into PE mode at WOT, the PCM will ignore the long terms (because they were "cutting" fuel) and its going to run pig rich. Whether that's the right match for a 50-shot of nitrous is anybody's guess. If you want to run nitrous, do it the right way, not by some sort of band-aid approach, hoping the PCM gets it right.

This belongs in the "N2O Tech" or "Computer....." forums.... not on Advanced Tech.

Re: 30# injector question

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I put it in the wrong forum. It originally started out as a question about the larger injectors with the stock pcm and then gravitated towards the nitrous question. A dry shot is kind of a shot in the dark approach to nitrous I know. That's why I was wondering about the rich condition at WOT. I don't plan on driving the car around "pig rich". I just wanted to make sure I would be getting enough fuel for the 50 shot when I change the pcm at the track.
