im currently doing the head n cam thing and was wandering if i could go up to a 175-200 shot on the stock bottom end? if need be id get a nitrous blower grind but id like for it to run good on motor too. i have all the other lil stuff like ignition and tr6 plugs and will run race gas...yanno all the safety stuff. im gonna upgrade to a 255 pump and so on. has anyone ever gone this high on a stock bottom end? i mainly need it for one race but i dont want it to be my last lol

 

i ran a 175 on my stock longblock for most of this season,no problems.

No problems here with a dual stage 175 hp shot.

 

If you are at all worried about your stock bottom end I wouldnt run a nitrous cam. The reason being is that the wider lobe separation wont bleed off cylinder pressure like a tighter lsa cam would.

 

how much should i retard the timing? i have heard 2 degrees for every 50hp is this true?

I would spray a ls1 to a 200 shot way before an lt1. People have done it. I don't think it will last season after season. If you make 400rwhp with the heads and cam. Then throw another 175hp at it the bottom end is not going to stay in working order too long. If you throw a 175shot onto a stock motor it is another. Everything in the bottom end is not meant for 575 hp.

What are the NX Jets for a 175 shot?

 

NX sent me 73N 41F for the 175 shot. I'd say you could go lower on the fuel jet. The jetting for the 200 shot is 78N 41F. So the fuel jet is the same for both per NX. I'd try a 38F if the 41F is too rich. JMO.

 

When my car was stock the LT1 held up to a 175 HP shot for over a year, no probs at all.

 

I just sprayed a 175 shot 72N 42F, bottle pressure under 900 psi though.

i know a guy at the local track was spraying an lt1 with hotcam/stage 1 heads stock shortblock with 175 wet shot and run 11's, but it didnt last long, a few weeks, he ended up doing a rebuild......
