100 shot and MadZ28 Tune

Is it safe to spray a 100 shot on top of a MadZ28 tune or do I need to get one specifically for nitrous.

If the tune is for Premium gas, then you should not spay with it. You want a tune that retards timing, not advance it. If it's too far advanced you will get detonation, and you can kill your motor.

Or you can get an ignition box that retards timing only when the nitrous is used.

search madz28 here in the n20 fourm, it's been talked about b4...i think the tune advances timing 2*, so when you spray thats not good...using a mallory 685 or something along those lines to pull that timing back out on spray would do the trick from what ive read b4

depending on the state of tune on your car you will want to be in the stock to 2-3* retard range

as stated above there are many ignition boxes on the market the will retard the timing for you when you spray.

The Mallory 685 is a good choice if you do not allready have a window switch

Well I was planning on a different window switch because I like the first gear lockout option which the mallory doesn't have. I guess I can get another tune from him that doesn't have the timing advance. I can just switch the programs with my laptop.

or just run the MSD 6a or the Crane Hi-6 for the retard plus upgraded ignition

you can do something like that for only slightly more than the 685

MSD DIGI 6 is also a good choice.

I was wondering this same thing, Ray, what window switch would you recommend? I really like the first gear lock out, and I have the premium fuel tuning on my car. I am wanting to do a 100 shot.

our digital window switch is a very nice piece....

if you want to use it than any of the ignition boxes can control the timing retard.

I am running the Digital 6 on my car...it is a little higher priced than say a Crane Hi-6, or the 6a with external timing retard.

Yea I made another post about that same window switch because its the one I wanted to use. I just really don't feel like spending money on an ignition box and a window switch but it looks like I might have to.

If your running a 100 shot with the Madz28 tune you should be fine. I got the premium gas tune which advances timming 2 degrees but at WOT it retards it 2 degrees. Which basically turns it back to stock. I would still detonate until I changed the plugs to one step colder. Or you could use 103 octane when you racing.

Well I already have one step colder plugs in it. I might just go ahead and get the mallory box just to be safe. It is my daily driver and I can't afford to blow it up by cutting corners. I am just going to have to figure out how its going to act in first gear on the juice.

What is the point of having the timing advanced by MadZ if it retards back to stock when u go WOT?
