$40...wasted

was finishing up my install today, so I got my bottle filled this morning while the shop was open. Cam home and commenced to work on wiring. Took me most of the day.

Around 3 pm, while I was in the car crimping and such, I heard a pop and see a white cloud as my tank proceeds to empty itself. The tank was sitting by itself out next to the car. The burst disk was brand new today! I had the guy at the shop install the safety fitting and new burst disk so I could install a blow down tube.

The tank is silver so it should reflect enough light so as not to get hot, and besides, today was partly cloudy and low to mid 70s. The tank shouldn't have over pressurized IMO.
If it can do that in the normal 70 degree heat, then what keeps it from popping when in my car all day in the sun under the hatch glass?

Should I talk to the guy at the shop and see if he wants to take some responsibility? Or is this normal?

No, that isn't normal. Yesterday it was 118*F in Arizona and 110*F in Vegas... none of my buddies N2Os blew. Improper disk installation would be my point... I'd take it back to the guy immediately so he can't say you "tampered" with it.

i would have to say it was a faulty disk. I have had bottle pressure upwards of 1300 and it hasnt popped. although i try not to leave it in the car baking all day if i can avoid it.

That's ****ty! But I'd like to see that happen to an unrestrained bottle. Mine with like 400psi will fall over and spin if I sit it on the ground and open the valve

Take care of it quick! I wanna see some spray timeslips

It was unrestrained, but it had that safety valve in it whish diverts the blow off into 4 seperate directions. It just sat there and made snow

It could be a faulty disk. However that is very rare. The safety valve may have been over tighted damaging the blow off cap. This valve just needs to be snuged down.Dont winch down on it to much.

Yep it sounds like it was overtightened. It should be torqued to 14 ft. lbs, if I remember right. It's in the instructions that come with the fitting.
