Torque converter/shops...

OK my TC is offically dead and I finally got myself a job and I need my car back NOW!!!! A few questions:

Any suggestions a a TC for my car? It has a Built 700R4 with a TransGo shift kit in it and according to my ex-tranny guy the trans should be able to handle up to 600hp(my car is no where near that!) but its only been 1.5-2 years since the rebuild and its gone to crap on me! Its not anything high hp'd and it would only be for spirited daily driving(able to handle traffic and cayons/drags) Any suggestions?

After driving my car my tranny guy said it was the TC for sure and to put in some Lube Tech but most likely its already gone....so I tried it and its just getting worse-undrivable- and now suddenly he thinks we should rebuild the whole thing again for $800- No way! Im positive its the TC just getting worse! SO thus he's our EX-tranny guy...tired of his BS and him always trying to talk us into something else(thats how I got this built tranny-we just wanted the bands replaced in the old one!)

So on to my next question:

Anyone have any good experience with any LOCAL tranny shops?(local as in north of LA but south of bakersfield) Im in Santa Clarita(by Six flags Magic Mountain) and I cant afford to have it towed anywhere and I dont trust it to make it very far, plus I need this done soon!!! All the mechanics I know are always taking there work to different shops for there customers cars and none have any good personal experience with there own cars that they drive daily...What sort of damage$$$ am I looking at if I buy the TC myself? just for pulling it and reinstallling it....(if there good we also have a '78 K5 Blazer that needs a 7000R4 cause the turbo350 is shot)

Thanks...

Cool

Hi Trans am girl.Sorry, never made it to the saturday night hangout, but pick up a copy of the recycler mag,and then call the adds. What ever you do,don't go to the place in Canyon Country that says they were voted #1 in the valley. They took my brother-inlaw for 2 grand, for a 5 speed stick rebuild,on a 93 ford ranger, and only gave him a 90 day warranty.6 months later,he couldn't shift into second gear.More$$$.Anyway,things are cheaper in the san Fernendo Valley, and cheaper yet in LA.Hope this helps.

If you can somehow make it to Rancho Cucamonga Karl's Transmission is great. Sorry I can't be of more help.
