Phoenix area... smog testing my car

Hey guys, I'm from Nebraska where we don't do any type of smog testing whatsoever.... We're just about to finish building my motor that is a pretty wild to say the least 383 in my 97 SS. 12.7:1 compression, AFR 220's ported and polished by Race Prep in CA, Cam Motion solid roller with 260-270 duration at .05, .680+ lift, 112 lsa.... Holley 58mm, LT4 intake matched to heads, Hooker LT's, and a custom true dual 3" exhaust with dual random tech bullet cats. ECU will be an Accel DFI gen 7.
I'm thinking about moving to Phoenix to go through UTI/Hot Rod U... I need to know what kind of testing my car would need to go through to be registered down there... and if it even stands a chance.

Any help and suggestions would be very appreciated!

Oh, and does anyone sell 100 octane in the area?

Thanks
Chuck

Well, You might have got the right person to answer SOME of your questions but not all of them. I am a Michigan Native and moved to Phoenix for schooling at UTI. I would recommend that you register your car in Nebraska before moving down here to Phoenix. The registration fees are really high in AZ. I don't know exactly what the Emissions tests are but I have heard there is a chasis load test which is sometimes hard to pass. All of the testing facilities are state run so it's not like California where you can pay off your buddy to pass it. Insurance costs compared to MI are really expensive here as well. I would recommend leaving your Camaro at home and bringing a beater down to drive.I left my Z at home and I am Damn sure glad I did. I miss it on the really nice days but I know it will be in better shape when I get home rather than if I had brought it.My vehicle out here now is getting beat up cause people just don't care.I even go out of my way to park in the back 40 of a parking lot where NO ONE is parked.I come out of a store and theres cars parked all around mine?? WTF??Be careful of the recruters from UTI.They will tell you anything to get you to enroll there. They even went as far to tell one of my friends that they had a "On Campus Drag Strip" which could'nt be any further from the truth. UTI has it's good points and it's bad.I am @ half way through the auto program right now.IF you have any questions about UTI or their programs,E mail me at jimmynoww69@yahoo.com and I'll give you my number and we can talk.

Hope I helped,

James
