Latigo Canyon
Just wondering what are some of the reviews of ppl that have driven this road.
I've done some research and have been inspired by the write-ups to check it out:

I'm pretty much a Turnabol Canyon junkie and would love to find some better runs
Please feel free to add any recommendations if you like
If anyone is interested in getting a group of us together for this run, just send me a PM
Me and my buddy may hit Latigo up in the near future.

Next weekend will be the Fry's cruise in San Diego
The seal will be replaced before then
I was so stoked to head up to Latigo this weekend
Yes, it is a fun run. I used to ride a Ninja but rented a Harley for a weekend. It was a blast but I almost laid it down... the Harley's don't have the turning performance of a Ninja and I bottomed out taking one of the corners hard. It skipped a few feet but I regained control... Phew!
Vash - what other canyons do you recommend. I just ran Santiago in Orange County a few weeks ago. Nice run but not long enough.
Jerm - how did you figure it was an injector seal? Those aren't common failure components.

well it depends on whaat you are looking for, tight turns or long sweepers?
Los Angeles Crest is the best place to go just for a good drive(that has some tight turns and long sweeping turns). Can mapquest how to get to Highway 2 to see how far you are from it

I went ahead and replaced the perfectly good seals on the injectors anyways, figured there would be no harm in that
BTW, if you own a F-body, recommend a run w/ long sweeping turns, heavy vehicles tend not to fair to well in tight courses

If you do do a tight course, a short run, like Turnabol is your best bet. Even w/ brake upgrades, I've seen those w/ the F-body still suffer from brake fade and that was w/ the Baer kit
I'd love to show up, but only when I get the suspension upgrades on my car, man, right now with the stock Z28/SS suspension, the car is verrrry wallowy, my SS handles sloppy compared to my previous 93 Z28 which had sways, Eibachs, Bilstein fronts, panhard rod, SFC's.

i have been trying to get something together for the longest time to go up into the malibu canyons. I have put several posts up in the past and nobody seemed serious. I have gone up into the malibu canyonb area at least 30 times and it is awsome. Never seen a camaro other than mine though. Angels crest is a cool drive but its got to many of those tar lines in it, so if you like to push your car like I do, it gets kinda hairy, not to mention the cops that like that road.
Anyways let me know of any canyon cruises you wanna go on and i'm there, just tell me where and when.
Thanks Mike

Well, Saturday night I ended up heading up to Latigo, since I wasn't able to make it down for the SD cruise :happysad: Anyways, I went ahead and did the run running from west (the coast) to east (towards Kanan) then running back up Mullholand.
At first, the run was mediocre with some sharp left and right handers, pretty much comparable to Turnabol which lasted thru the first set of houses ending w/ some severe rough road, which are noted w/ small road signs to your right. I ended up catching a pot hole that was pretty nasty, but AlySSa was all good attacking the next corner to come.
I began to head alittle way more running thru an area w/ million dollar homes built on the cliffs. I was pretty jealous
Anywho, the road began to show me what it had w/ series of S-turns banked w/ each cut. Hairpins that swooped you around the edges of cliffs, simply put, I've never driven a road like this
Well, here is where the Camaro's faults began to take place
The run is quite long compared to what I normally do over in Whittier and by the time I got 3/4 of the way through it, brake fad was pretty severe w/ the power steering giving its notable whine which in turn has left me w/ difficulty to turn. Simply put, the F-body is to heavy, especially for a run like this
I went ahead and chilled for about 30-45 minutes at Latigo & Kanan till the brakes cooled and to stretch my arms out, they were incredibly sore
Then headed over to Mullholand to shoot thru the Mountains once again
but it was more of a nOOb pace, my power steering still wasn't loving me
and couldn't run Mullholand how I've done in the past.
All in all, was a good night, would love to go back but only do the back end of Latigo due to my car being so heavy :-/ What would be perfect for this road is a 2600 lbs car w/ around 300 hp
BTW, if any of you do head up, be wary near the back section of Latigo near Kanan, there was quite a bit of gravel on the road, so be cautious on some of those turns.
Cliff Notes: Latigo owns me
and the Camaro is too heavy
