I moved from Gilbert to Fort Collins, CO and back. Believe me, Colorado housing is much higher than here.
Some people hate it here, some love it. I love it.

but, get that in Pv or scottsdale? not gunna happen.
The tempe area where i live at is pretty cool and the apts. are a reasonable price. (675 2bed 2 bath) I would suggest you find something near hear. Gibert is nice too dont really go that far but its nice the one time ive been there. I like the tempe area cause you have the ASU campus and all the chicks are near so thats a plus. I get slapped in the back of my head every time i look.
good luck drop me a line when your in town.

LOL... middle of nowhere my behind...
Dave just hasn't realized yet that he is paying a preimum on living in a "Mark Taylor Community." You can find better prices than what he pays almost anywhere.. except maybe some of the really new places out in north Scottsdale.
But he is right, why pay some else's mortgage??

I completely agree, I don't want to pay anyone else' mortgage. But, there is nothing I can do I don't have 3% to put down on some of the "new home owner" plans out there and I guess my Credit score isn't good enough. I havn't figured out why.

So fix your credit and get a house... We bought our house with no down... and I can't say that I have perfect credit either.
I'd have to advise not moving to arizona...
I'm from california, going to school in Prescott, which is half way between phoenix & flagstaff. to me, phownix seems like a minerature LA with less to do, hotter than hell, & people here tend to have a thing against Californians especially... maybe they're envious that we have a beach & nice weather instead of dirt & hellish weather...
I dunno, if you're movin west, I'd say keep on goin west to california.

I think that's what causes the resentment.

I'm about 25% give or take a couple percents. which isn't bad really. but, for some reasons lending agents can't seem to get me approved for a 0% down spot. anyone got a hook up in home finance?
:P
WS6 Formula,
You might have a beach or two and sunny weather but we doon't have to worry about sliding into the ocean...... LOL J/K. I too would not recommend moving to AZ. Damn, I can't wait to get home to Michigan. Only 6 more months of Hell for ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, those of you that were complaining about the "high" rent in Arizona are too spoiled if you ask me. $700-900 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath is high? Or even $1000 for the same in Colorado? Cry me a river! In California (Santa Barbara) I pay $975 for a 1 bedroom, ~600 sq ft apartment, and that's not bad. Two bedroom, try $1700-$1900. Now tell me that AZ is expensive. The apartment I'm going to rent in Phoenix is bigger, has Washer/Dryer in uinit, AC, fireplace, ect. and is only like $480/month. Any no, it's not in the ghetto. It's in north Phoenix by the Metrocenter. And, no security deposit in Phoenix, my last one is Cali was twice the rent, or almost $2,000.
In any case, I'm moving to Phoenix to go to UTI in a month or so. Hot in the summer, but seems alright to me besides that. At least you have drag strips there, closest to me is 3-4 hours right now. Biggest down side so far is the car insurance. Went from $550 to $2200 for 6 months. I couldn't believe it. I currently have Geico, but will probably switch for lower rates to Progressive or another company.

Well,I commend you for going out and getting an education.I recently graduated from UTI/Phoenix Campus. That was the whole reason I was out there.when you get there if you are not already you will see why your insurance rates went up that much. You will see wrecks ALL the time.If you have a "Special" car that is nice or means something to you I would leave it at home if at all possible. My first day at UTI in orientation they told us if you make it through your program without getting your car stolen, broken into, or getting in a wreck. You are Lucky.Well I made it most of the way through the program and 2 months before graduation my car got broken into and the stereo was stolen, top cut open, and other articles stolen from my car.Total losses was @ $3 grand.that was in the metrocenter area that you described as not ghetto. You were right it is not Ghetto but it really is'nt all that great either.I lived in a fairly nice apt, gated with security by 22nd ave and Northern where all that stuff happened to my car.So just be aware and don't leave anything of value in your car.As far as UTI goes,It is pretty good.Slow at some times but stick with it.It will pay off in the end and definetly look into the grad programs they have there.I just started at Ford Technical Institute here in Dearborn MI.It is great.good luck and if you have any questions about anything else feel free to ask me and I might be able to help.If you need a job I can tell you of a place that hires frequently that is a good place to work for.

Thanks for the info James, I'll keep all that advice in mind when I move. The apartment complex I'm moving to is near 22nd and Dunlap, and is across from a golf course. The immediate surrounding area is fairly nice, next to some office-type buildings in the center of a block away from main streets. I'd hardly call it Ghetto. As for the Metrocenter itself, it seems just like any other newer sprawl-type places that you see anywhere else in the country. Perhaps we need to define Ghetto here. I consider ghetto to be old, run-down houses, liquor stores, pawn shops, drug dealers, hookers, bums, 99-cent stores, ect. There's none of that near where I'm living, maybe at other peoples houses?
As for the accidents, theft, ect.: it's a big city and **** happens I guess. Don't know why so much in Phoenix or the metrocenter, maybe it's all those Californians
. Personally, I drove pretty much all through Phoenix touring the city and looking for apartments, and I don't think the city as a whole is half as ghetto, crowded, expensive, or polluted as L.A. It's all relative.I hope UTI will be good, sounds promising so far. I do plan to do one of the manufacturer programs, I'm thinking Audi or BMW so far. Any tips for jobs would be greatly appreciated as I'll need the money when I arrive.
Anyone have any tips for car protection for theft in Phoenix? My Alpine deck has a removeable faceplate, and I'll probably get limo tint for my rear hatch to hide my amps/sub as well as for the heat. Do you guys think a locked car cover would be helpful to hide the car, or would it attract more attention to a valuable car? Also, do you think the cover will help keep the heat out? I'm going to get good car insurance even though it costs a lot, so that I can cover most of the mods on my car. Guess I'll have to be careful and cross my fingers....
