Exclamation Good performance transmission shop in SoCal

My car has been practically out of commission for 2 months now.

I've been trying to get a transmission built by Pro Built Automatics ( http://www.700r4l60e.com ) ... He has a "road race" designed 4L60 that would be perfect for what I want to do with the car. I talked to him on the phone, and he suggested using a 2800 stall converter (I'm keeping my 3.23s) and everything sounded great. His road race build is supposed to be made to better withstand constant upshifts and downshifts.

Link to the transmission

BUT, that was almost 3 weeks ago. I've been trying to get ahold of him to tell him to go ahead and start on the transmission (he says it takes 3 weeks to get it out of his shop) but he won't return any calls... I've called him several times and left messages in the last 2 weeks.

It's pretty frustrating. I'll never get my transmission if he never starts building it. I'm thinking it's time to find someone else, but I'm hoping they offer a similar type setup; I know most shops only do the pro street or street/strip thing.

Anyone know of a good shop around So Cal? It's taken me 2 months to get the cash together to fix my car, now I'd like to get it back on the road before Christmas. :blah:

Oh yeah? How were they on price? I don't have too too much money to spend over $2500-$2600, so hopefully they don't consider themselves worthy of 3000 plus because they were on TV. But hopefully they're up to building a nice performance piece that can do the job.

This transmission cost has been killing me, or I would have done it a long time ago like we talked about. If I come there for the transmission I could do it at the same time.

I do, but nothing has changed. My car is still not in any condition to cruise around with. I would go just for the heck of it, but I hardly get any time off as it is lately, and missing sleep so I can go tagging along to a cruise or gathering in my Scion doesn't sound like much fun.

Did you call the Toy Shop YET?? They did mine as well...excellant work and an awesome price plus he provides a 2 year guarantee even if you race it. If the prices you listed above are what you've been getting quoted for a rebuild with converter, then you REALLY need to call Mike. He turned mine around overnight and didn't charge me anymore than the original quote (I'd have to look it up). I drove up from San Diego, dropped if off at closing, and picked it up the next evening. Never had a problem with it and I beat on it pretty hard on a regular basis.
