CHP Camaro on the 118

Just a friendly warning for those of us who live/work/drive through the San Fernando Valley regularly. I saw the white LS1 CHP Camaro working the heck out of Hwy 118 between Topanga Cyn and I-5 today. Apparently, from a guy I know who owns a body shop in Chatsworth, that has been going on for a little while now recently.....I saw him with a newer red Mudstain GT stopped and then he was going after another import-luxury type......those CHP cars are generally for Commercial enforcement (18 wheelers) however, as is obvious, they WILL stop speeders too......

So y'all watch your 6's and if you see a white, late-model Camaro/Z28 looking car approaching DON'T try to race it LOL

Good luck kids.

LOL Gotcha......although, better safe then sorry I always say. Used to be, back in the day, I would see a white topped/dark bodied Mustang and panic.....95% of the time, it was a 'vert with a white top LOL

I have seen one on the 10 going towards L.A. from redlands. Once when I was with my dad in his 01 c5 and we talked to the guy in the chp maro because he got off on the same exit as us and we asked him to race and he got a good laugh out of it. They seem to have pretty low profile lights on top so they are hard to pick out of the crowd.

Yep, that is a great donut shop. A whole dozen for like 3 bucks.

Also, just to let you guys know, there is a regular LAPD motorcycle cop who hangs out on Balboa near the 5 fwy. This guy is making a killing over here almost every day giving out tickets. There is another guy who hangs out on Balboa just north of Nordoff. I think this is ridiculous to scout out a single area for so many years. Luckily, I know where they are at most of the time. And after getting quite a few tickets in my time, you start getting a good sense where they are. I can almost sniff them out.

The reason those guys are there for all this time is that OBVIOUSLY there is a need for traffic enforcement there if they can write ticket after ticket and still not get everyone for whatever the violation(s) is/are. I sat on the same street, in the same place, at the same time, day after day for months, running radar and you would be frightened by how many REPEAT customers I got. One gal, well, she got 3 speeding tickets from me, in the same block, within about 90 minutes.........and she was not alone.

Well, my feeling about the tickets given out by officers: For every ticket you write, how many other speeders are out there getting away with it? To enforce the same area again and again must mean lots of accidents, right? wrong. They are picking the bottom of hills where cars pick up speed. That is really chicken **** if you ask me.

The streets and freeways are so crazy now, it's like everybody is out for themselves. It's just amazing.

In about 10 years, there will be total gridlock at this pace, believe me. And is anyone doing anything about it, no. Writing tickets will not alleviate the problem either. It will gather more funds for the LAPD though, so they can hire more officers.

Little bit of trivia for ya. The officer's that spend repeated time in the same area are usually there due to citizen complaints of traffic problems. The police are not miracle workers, we can only do so much and a lot of that is issue tickets to try to keep the accidents down. In other areas it is to appease the locals who call and complain about high speed traffic/racing/whatever it may be.

As for funds from tickets, the Cities/Counties get LESS then 15% of the amount of the fine from each ticket. Total "revenue" from citiations makes up less then 1% of the Department's Budget............just some food for thought.
