Who does rear gear installs?

I thought I remember seeing someone on here that has done a number of gear installs. I'm thinking of asking for 3.73 gears to replace my 3.42's for Christmas, but was wondering if someone on this board installs them and how much they ask.

Thanks,
Dan

gears

hi Dan, i have installed gears for alot of board members. the average cost with gear, bearings and labor is $400.00.
being that your car has 60k on it i will be replacing all of the bearings and seals, the gear set is a GM set if you want an aftermarket gear just let me know.
also you dont specify if your car is an auto or a manual. if it is a 6spd. then i would recomend a 4.10.

Look like a M6 to me Scott.. I agree 4.10's are way better with a 6 speed. And Scott is the man when it comes to rear ends. He hasn't actually fondled mine yet but hes done a lot of my friends cars with no complaints just good reviews.

1BAD86Z, I talked to you at M8 about 12 bolts. I bought a used 12 bolt Moser with 9000miles and need to have the gears changed to 4.11's. How much would you charge?

That's cool that we have someone like you to do our gears.

I've thought about 4.10's, but I do a LOT of interstate and highway driving. My RPM's would just be too high for me all the time. I drive 50 miles a day to work and back and about 20 miles of it is 60+ MPH and another 20 miles is 75+

I know 4.10's would be a real kick, but I'm looking for something that is more managable on the interstate.

I'll be letting you know about the gears. Are the GM gears different than the Motives, and if so, how are they different.

Thanks!
Dan

4.10 gears

i do not like to see a customer dissapionted so just remember you have 2 overdrives in that 6 spd. 5th and 6th.. how often do you use 6th.? also going to a 3.73 from a 3.42 is barely noticeable. just something to think about. give me a call when you decide.. 586-630-1098. leave message if i do not answer.

also, yes the motives are different from the GM's" motives blue box gears are cut in indonesia and the performance gears, orange box, are cut in italy. i like to recomend a Strange or a GM set, for quitenes and strength.

Scott is the man! He did my 4.10's (strange), no whine at all. Also, with the 4.10's in 6th gear at 75mph my rpm's are barely above 2000rpm. I think the 4.10's are a perfect match for the M6.

4.10's are the way to go for sure. Scott installed a GM gear for me and it is a perfect job, no whine what so ever. Scott is the one you want to do the work and he's a good guy to.

4.10s

Scott,

I am also with MM - I will be looking for someone in march or so for the gear install on my car. Do you reprogram the speedo too? Is it better if I buy the parts and your labor or if you buy the parts too?

Thanks,

Gene

gears:

Gene March sounds fine but i do not reprogram for the ratio change but i heard ape can do it for about $75.00. give me a call on my cell @ 586-630-1098. when you are ready.
as for tenths i do not have any real time data but the torque multiplication is asstounding ,,,YOU WILL NEED STICKY TIRES.

p.s. richmond gears suck, i have been using US Strange and factory GM gears and i have had only 1 fail.
when i was at DTS i had a customer that ordered a complete 9" center with the best of the best and it "HAD TO HAVE A RICHMOND" in when he got it he put "their specified oil" and what hapened well on jackstands the gear burned up. needles to say i stay away from richmond.
