Question What does it take for a Canadian to work in the US? Help!

Hey guys, I recently moved down to Florida, and I have a friend who wants to move down here with me. Problem is, he's Canadian. What does he have to do to get a Visa to work here in the United States? His mom is American, if that helps. What does he need to do, how much does it cost and most importantly, how long does it take? Thanks guys! -Mike

PLEASE don't tke this personal but maybe he should ask some of the Haitians, or Cubans who put an American out of work down there how to get a job. It really irritates me to see all the different immigrants moving into the country and taking jobs, or better yet getting free wellfare. (look at what the Sudanese). I don't know you or your friend and I'm sure you both are good workers and good guys too but I think all the people coming to the "Land of the free and the Home of the brave" have done a lot to contribute to the state we're in now.

there are certain classifications....

i work in the u.s. under a work visa. but you must meet a few requirements as far as education etc. and type of job being offered.
s willis, r u an unemployed engineer..no???? i hope not cause then i would be taking your job. write your congressman.nothing personal.

the vagrants illegally entering the u.s should be addressed accordingly.

hey taner

I won't start flaming, that's not me Just want to carry on an intelligent conversation. I'm sure you're a good guy too. Seen a lot of you're posts here and you seem to be well known too. I just think you'd probably feel diferently if "the shoe was on the other foot" And....No I'm not an unemployed engineer. I'm an employed electrician. but I've seen the results of people from different countries coming here to work. Just wondering why you work here and not in Canada?

two reasons.....

opportunity, compare the size of windsor to the metro detroit area.

also most importantly...... 1.00 U.S = 1.55 Can. funds. and the pay scale is about the same dollar for dollar, so i think you can see the benefit

sorry but i take offense to your statement in general, i love working in the states, and i love to spend my money in the states so what if all of my money spent is for food and mods, lmao!!!!

as an fyi, there are over 10,000 windsorites that cross the border everyday. and these are engineers, lawyers, nurses, doctors, etc. ...

no flame intended....

There are Americans working in almost every country in the world. Should all those countries kick them out? Dont blame the people that legally come here and work, that is ridiculous. Hell, dont even blame the illegals that do it. If I were in the position they were in, I would do the same thing, and most likely so would you. We are so lucky to have what we do, and we didnt earn the right, we got lucky and were born here. Maybe instead of focusing on the illegals, the real focus should be on the people hiring the illegals. They are the real issue. They break all kinds of laws out of greed, not desperation.

Yeah, it's really the Cubans and Haitians that are taking jobs that you or I would want. Puuuuuhhhhhhhlease! As if you'd work for a landscaping company for $30 a day, and live in a 600 sq.ft. house with 20 other people just to have a job and support your family back home. The illegals, and new immigrants take the s**t jobs that nobody else wants. And they're happy to have them.
BTW There's FAR more poor white-trash getting welfare than any other group. So quit yer bitchin!

I gotta get my $.02 in on this one...

Do you guys think our ancestors that founded this country intended for it to be the "land of the free" for all to run to? I mean look at it this way...everyone in this world wants to be "free", and the US is the most liberal country in the world. Don't you think if you stuffed 10 pounds of **** in a 5 pound bag that it eventually will explode? Its time to quit letting the **** in our bag.
