I'm not gonna throw any stones... But I do find it odd that no one from VRE has said anything.

Ditto, Bruce did most of the work on my 98WS6. In fact, the heads I got from you went on there too.

Aggressive is a place that I would trust!

For me that pretty much sums it up. Looks like another Michigan shop doing shady crap! The reason why I don't let people work on my stuff.

Eric hasn't signed on in almost six months. He definitely used to be on all the time, but lately, I guess not.

Hello,
First off I would like to apologize for not being on the boards in forever. Had some family issues, some good some bad that need to be handled and that took a majority of my time.

Secondly I would like to apologize to Nick for the miscommunication and issues with his potential engine build. It was my fault for going against procedure and this is obviously what we get for it. Every project that we take on requires a 50% deposit. This deposit covers us in the case that the customer does not want to or can not pay when the project is complete. That way we our not "on the streets" for all their project. Over the last 4+ years we have been stuck with various engines, parts and even complete vehicles because of in ability to pay. Your parts shouldn't have even been accepted without a deposit and signed contract, and the staff member that took that has been removed from my company. Because of the incident I have been forced to make some changes to safe guard VRE as well as the customer.

I will now sign off an let everyone continue to cast stones at me and my business.

Regards,
Eric

Eric, thanks for posting. I think the above is more than fair, and in my opinion, nobody has anything to worry about when going to VRE for work. Prior to this thread, I've heard nothing but good stuff about you guys.

Nick (crazyfastbird93), I'd like for you to post one more time regarding whatever resolution you are able to come to regarding your issue with VRE and your overall satisfaction level once you have your engine back. After that, I intend to lock this thread to avoid any further casting of stones against VRE, who is a longstanding supporting vendor.

In the future, when you have trouble with a vendor, and especially a CZ28 supporting vendor, I think it would be prudent to call and ask to speak to the owner/manager before you post complaints on the forum. I realize this is more difficult with the larger companies, but I think most problems like this happen with smaller companies where they don't have so many policies in place. Your problems were clearly a result of the fact that you had been working with / speaking with people who didn't know what was going on; when that happens, the right thing to do is nearly always to go up the ladder.

I want to chime in here - Victory build my 383 shortblock for me. I had never met Eric before, and don't know him from anywhere else, either. I found Victory recommended here.

As usual with custom projects, there were a few issues that popped up. His employees at the shop couldn't really help me work through them, but each time, I spoke to Eric in person. He made every issue right with me, and threw in a couple bonus parts for my trouble. He seemed to take 'doing what he said he would' pretty seriously. I'm happy with the outcome.

Here's an example - I specifically wanted a bare, unpainted block. Mine was delivered to me looking like bare cast iron, but when I started putting the engine paint on, it became clear the block had been sprayed with cast-iron-colored paint, as it lifted a bit. I called and complained - Eric explained that he spec'd bare, but the machine shop must have sprayed it against orders - Victory did not do it. Also, the block had a 1/2 fill, even though I didn't ask for it. Eric offered to have another block machined & built up to for me if I wanted to bring that one back! I declined for timing reasons, and because the fill was actually a bonus, but you can't expect any more than that IMO. Decked, fully machined, 4-bolt mains, fitted parts, there was a bit of work in that shortblock, and he was willing to do it over again for me to get it right.

I went to Victory in the first place because, while I had a significantly lower verbal quote from another area machine shop, when I went in there to sign a detailed contract, their price jumped by about 2 grand. That didn't happen with Victory, they did the work for the initially quoted amount. Not cheap maybe, but fair enough and no price creep.

This doesnt sit very well with me... Not only was this just a bad choice, to me it comes off as a little confrontational.

As far as well all know you never once did anything to take care of your customer and on top of it he was missing parts. Eric, are you even a sponsor here anymore?

Until I found out exactly how this ended up and how the customer was handled this thread is locked. Both you and Crazyfastbird can PM me with updates and I will post them here if either of you care to respond.
