Which trans pan should I get?

Well Chris (IROCSS85) got another bad idea in my head and now I am thinking of getting an aluminum transmission pan to keep the fluid 15 to 20 degrees cooler, I already have a heavy duty trans cooler but the pan would just help more. I just built up my 700R4 with all high performance internals, shift kit, new TC and everything so I want to make sure it lasts during autocross races and long fast driving trips. My car is a C4 Corvette so I don't want to have it hanging low and break if I hit a bump. Does anybody have any recomendations for a aluminum pan with cooling fins and perhaps a capacity to hold an extra quart of fluid but not something that hangs too low??????
Thanks for any help.

What do you guys think about a Derale?

This TCI one might hang too low?

Money is also a factor so please tell me what you guys think. Is the TCI worth the extra $45? Does anybody know how much lower than stock they are? 1 inch?

On my Z the TCI does hang a bit low and im at the stock ride height. All extra capasity ones will hang lower .....maybe check the vette places to see if there is one that wont cause a ground clearance issues. Steven

steven, measure how low the pan comes off the rail and let John know. I think you should maybe try taping something down there at the same depth and see if anything hits it when your driveing around. know what I mean? leave it there and just drive normal for a few weeks. you could even use thin sheet metal and make a 90 degree bend and put it under one of the front bolts to hold it in place. if it hits something, its too low, if not then dont worry about it. I think you should have enough clearance anyways, just not sure about some of those back country roads round your house.

I can measure it when i get the car back. I do know it scraped in my uncles driveway and on some speedbumps and again on my lil mishap. If they replace it i will cut john a super deal on my old one! Steven

I have on that Summit sent me. It was supposed to be for a 4L60E, but ended up being for a 700. The only difference is the pickup tube for the filter was different.

I'd give you a good deal on it if you are interested. I have all my stuff in storage, so it will take me a few to get it all together. I dont even remember what it cost. It is the chrome steel, extra capacity pan.

BlackSunshine, what brand is it? How much? I have heard that the TCI one is the best and I also know some people running them on C4's with good clearances so thats what I will probably get.

Lightbulb I run the one with...

kooling holes and swirlers in them (Derale). Looks like it should work and it only sits about an inch lower and holds 2 more qts.
It is stainless steel however.

HInk.

I already have a large cooler, I just want to make sure my trans stays cool when I am autocross racing for a long time, the trans tunnel in a vette holds a lot of heat from the engine and exhaust around it. I just ordered a TCI pan today, hopefully next wednesday my car will be ready to do some testing at Milan.
