Trans pan leak help

I've replaced the gasket twice on my 700R4(cheap cork gaskets) and it seems to be leaking from the pan gasket, where can I get a silicone pan gasket? or does anyplace sell rails for the trans pan? Thanks for any help, I ran a straight edge around the pan and it seems straight.

I don't know how much mechanical experience you have so don't get offended...
How tight did you tighten the pan bolts?
It sounds like you may have over tightened them.
The best way to use cork gaskets is; put a LIGHT coat of silacone
sealant on both sides of the gasket then tighten them lightly untill you see the gasket start to bulge just slightly at the area of the bolts...
When I was working at the repair shop they did have rubber gaskets avail. at N.A.P.A.
Good luck

I tightened the bolts to the torque specs, I usually try and do everything right on my car and my brother and I rebuilt everything in the trans ourselves so mechanical ability/or insanity is here. Thanks though, the help I needed was where to get a rubber pan gasket and where I could get rails to go around the pan. I'll try NAPA for the gasket tommorrow. Thanks.

I never use torque on cork.
The factory gasket is a better quality gasket and will hold at spec.
If you use the spec on cork it cracks and leaks.
If you don't find it at N.A.P.A. try carquest they usally have a good line of high perf. gaskets.
Don't mean to sound like a smartazz.. I've seen factory mechanics do the same thing when using cork..
Good luck
Ken

Someone else just did this (same person?) - dont forget the bolt holes and the proper "torque" sequence (not that you put any torque on the bolts - but there is a proper sequence so not to distort the pan).

Thanks, I did the right torque sequence and the proper inch/lbs spec with a inch/lb torque wrench. I'll try the new gasket.
I've done this many times with many tranmissions, I just hate the cork gaskets, its not leaking much (just a few drops) but any little thing wrong bothers me enough until I fix it. Thanks for the advice.
