Re: Tranny Shop?

try to track down a place called joel's on joy over by the hot spot near tele. the guy did my first 700-r for dirt cheap and did it very well. he seemed to be real straight up and honest unlike alot of places around here. there isn't a tranny shop in our area i would trust it with.

maybe one of the guys out of their garage might be able to help...

Cory you're looking at $1000-$1500 for that trans... I used to work at a trans shop... Anything FWD with overdrive is $1000-up.

I've heard lots of good things about Joels from a few people including Jeff In fact I bought his Joels trans when he upgraded and it worked perfect even with some miles on it.

Re: Tranny Shop?

aha, so this is the thread scott was trying to reply on. will someone show scott where the correct button is? lol anyways, joels on joy is a great shop. I have no personal exp. with them, but they have been around for a long time, and I always hear good things about them. on the other hand, you know I work at a pont. dealership, so I can get you a good guy price. not sure what I can do compared to joels, but if you call me monday, I'll find out a price for a basic rebuild for ya. ofcourse that would be plus any damaged internal hard parts if any.

yeah 100% of me says i should have kept my trans as it would have been more then fine and 1400 in my pocket.

reguardless it worked good for me and i'm glad it worked good for mike too... i have yet to hear any bad things about joels. when i called for a second rebuild he even turned me down saying that what i had planned wasn't really possible out of a 700 and that he could build one but it probably wouldn't hold. the fact that he turned down an easy 1200 dollar job as well as the good work he did on my previous trans he gets my thumbs up.... something you don't find these days that's for sure.

cory call joels if you haven't already, get a price and call chris. chris is a good guy and from what i know has done some good work. either way just look around a little bit and use your best judgement.
