These are the best of times, these are the worst of times

Got a whole day to work on my Z and my brothers Trans-Am today. While you others were out cruising, I was working hard. Started the day at 9am by hanging my K frame, accesory bracket, tensioner pully, steering shaft, motor mounts and valve covers from wire in the garage. Then a friend of mine came over and sprayed them all with self etching primer, and a single stage shot of body color red. I will post pictures when I get my camera back on monday. But all I can say is OMFG...that looks nice.

Then moving right along, we dropped the rear end out of the Bird for a new Eaton Posi and the 3.73 gear out of my Z. I will take the 3.42 out of the Bird to help out the RPM's since I now own a 3 speed 4th gen.

Speaking of the 3 speed, I installed the Hurst Promatic ratchet shifter in my Z. Used a manual console from work, and after a little trimming and a little sacrifice from my dying van,(needed a wire connector) I now have a 3 speed ratchet shifter that looks like a manual shifter. Looks great and if very trick. Thanks to this board for the knowledge to hook it up, and thanks to Brad and my brother for helping get it done.

Then on the way home, my sexy hot love machine, my van, gave up the ghost. Died on the way home, and looks like I am taking a road trip tomorrow to pick up a new Jeep Cherokee I found. So a little bad news, but alot of good news. Had a blast, and I cant wait till summer. This thing is coming together soooooo good. Can't wait!

two questions

1. You got any ideas on those flames, how you want them to look?

2. Can you fix me up w/ a battery tray for my 95Z? just saw that mine's broken!

Maybe we can do an exchange?

No problem Skip. I can send the tray along with the valve covers when I ship them to you. I just have to get it off the car still. As for the flames, I was thinking just a traditional yellow and orange setup running down the valve covers. Nothing crazy, just a nice set of licks to spice it up.

Glad to hear things are going well for you Q.

I started installing the Digital 6 yesterday, almost got it done I just have to extend the main power and ground wires but my soldering iron is at work so it will have to wait till sometime this week.

I did get a chance to fire her up, wow I really missed that sound. Also found out the battery is dead because of one of the headlight motors was continuously running. So I have the new charger on it and contacted Brent Franker to see if he has anymore of the CNC brass gears available.

I have just dug into my motor finally! I have the accessories off and that stupid TPI is now coming off too. I almost didn't dig into it because I wanted to drive it today but I don't have a milk crate to sit on so the one last cruise on this setup was out of the question.

Quentin, stop over today or tomorrow if you want to. I'll be working on this thing for a long long time I can tell. Gotta get her done though.
