They said this was normal and sometimes this happens. It was cool to see it. I wished I would have been on it when it would stop at the top and then fall backwards at 120mph. Only thing bad about this was people in line were stuck there for hours while they tried to get the ride back up and runing.
Uh, Yikes! Something else for me to add to my list of why I don't like rollercoasters. And they told you it's normal for this kind of problem to occur?? That doesn't sound safe to me!!

Rebecca, They say it sometimes happens on the signs out front. I was just shocked to see it. They have precautions and brakes setup just incase that does happen. I guess if the wind is too great and they don't get the coaster up to speed what other option does it have, but to go back down.

You know what the really scary part was?

Watching the whole track move and shake while the dragster flew up the track. You could see the whole thing just moving side to side and they said that was "normal".

Uh, yeaaaaah... Definitely not sounding too safe to me.

And people think that they are going to talk me into getting on these rides?

If the thing didn't move it would just break. Safer being on a coaster then driving to work. More fun too.

Yeah it's great to hear all of the people in line asking why the steel rollercoaster in front of them is swaying/bending around slightly... They've all of a sudden become an expert in structural design and they've written 5 or 6 different textbooks on Statics... Makes ya wanna tell em to just ride the damn ride and stop asking stuff. Or just tell em..."Hey man last time I seen it do that some kid fell out of his seat and splattered on the ground. they told me not to tell anyone else because it would hurt ticket sales, shhhh"... Something like that can get ya to the front of the line pretty quickly!

Becca...I hope you never go on a ride. You'd never appreciate the time and money put into making such a cool experience and you would be wasting everyone elses time who was behind you in line. I personally ban you from cedar point and or every other Theme park in my 3700mile radius.

I guess I look at it as:
Why would a company that pushes a 100k plus people through the gates daily, not fully design and test a ride WAY beyond the limits of any stress it could possibly be put under during the course of a full season? Further, would they risk a mutli million dollar suit as well as an equal loss in annual revenue by purposefully cutting corners in the design and construction or by creating something inherently dangerous? I would think your car would be more likely to injure/maim/kill you than a rollercoaster at one of the WORLD'S leading theme parks.
Now when the carnies come throw somemetal together in the local A&P parking lot for a weekend and call it a "carnival," THAT's when you worry.

Good! Ban me! Then people will quit bugging me to go next time...

What about that ride at Michigan's Adventure that broke down with people on it?

I'd just rather:
spend my money on something else
stay on the ground
not barf on people
