Rain at M10? DOUBTFUL. Here is why...

Before anyone starts getting worried about it, it almost always looks like rain before hand, and it hasn't happened yet. What DOES happen is that there are people that say the day after the event, "I wish I would have gone, I thought it was going to rain...waaaahhhh..."

If you go to weather.com, you get one reading, but if you go to intellicast.com you get another and if you go to accuweather.com you get another and so on...

At the time of this post:

Weather.Com - POSSIBLE showers

wunderground.com - Partly cloudy

Intellicast.com - Showers POSSIBLE. Highs in the mid 60s and lows in the low 40s.

Accuweather.com - Partly sunny and breezy

WOTV.Com - Partly cloudy - high of 58

REMEMBER - Stanton usually get less rain than surrounding areas. It can be dry in Stanton but pouring only a few miles away.

Don't sweat the weather, this happens every year.

This is almost an exact replica of the post I made nearly EVERY year about this.

What about the year it was late getting started because it rained early in the morning then we could only do 1/8 mile runs. Everyone got 2 1/4 runs in, that sucked.

Oh yeah...I don't remember which event that was, but I do remember that the track was slippery and the track staff didn't want anyone to lose control and get hurt, which I cannot blame them for.

BTW, check out the links in my post above. ALL of them say SUNNY or partly cloudy right now!

Sunny and 61. I like that.

No need to ice the intake!

FIFTY-nine degrees, 61% humidity, ZERO percent chance of showers.

I hope the track prep is spot on, because it sounds like there's big air up there tomorrow! Expect some good MPH at the top end.

Re: Rain at M10? DOUBTFUL. Here is why...

Why, thank you! I didn't get to talk to you today, unfortunately.

I got me sixteen time slips sitting here.

Best one was 12.403 @ 113.59 MPH and a 1.917 60-footer. At that point I was pretty much hot-lapping while we all waited for the quick 16 to get under way.

A couple of times the tires gave up mid-track and it was pretty weird. I had a 16 second timeslip at 66 MPH, where I just quit after three or four attempts to let off and get the tires hooked again. I thought I had broken something, but it was just the drag radials going away. Every time I'd hit the gas, the car would rev to 6600 RPM. I thought I had smoked the clutch. However, the next run four minutes later yielded a 12.674 at 114 MPH.
