quick hotel question, computer guys please help!!
i have a laptop setup to use my home internet connection through comcast cable with no issues. i'm going out of town for quite a while and would like to be able to use my laptop in the hotels.
has anyone used their laptop in a hotel on business trips or otherwise?
anyone know what i'll need to take advantage of the "free high speed internet"
i'm leaving tomorrow and could really use some help, just want to make sure i have or get everything i need to be able to use my laptop in one of these hotels with internet connection?
thanks in advance!

Re: quick hotel question, computer guys please help!!
99% of the time you no longer have to put in an IP address when setting up your high speed internet. The ISP asigns you one and often changes it. You should be able to just plug into their dsl or cable modem and you should be good to go. The computer will take care of everything.

well i have a wired card and cable. just not sure if i should pick up a wireless card just in case. most of the hotels said they support either but wireless was at all of them. just want to make sure i pick up the right thing.

most hotels if i remember right are wireless in the lobbys not sure about the rooms. but i remembe rsitting in my car down the road and picking up my router from the end of the street. with my pc. (thank god for the ability to set up networks.) and my buddy used to borrow his neigbhros he didnt have it protected. lol. but if its wireless i would just get a wireless card anyway alot of places have wireless connections set up.
but they should have it so u can hardwire it into the wall in the room. and it should be plug and play.
