Pulling engine from the bottom

How hard? Quentin?

I'd rather pull the whole thing as a unit, leaving all the accessories in tact for the buyer when it sells. It's a lot easier when you don't have to hand someone a bag of bolts and brackets and tell them to "figure it out"

It's easier to drop out the bottom than it is to pull out the top.
Just take all the shock bolts out of the top, and remove the K-member bolts on the bottom.

Yeah, pretty much. Just dis-connect any lines, hoses, or wires and it drops out.

killerjello, just for a reference, I just looked up labor times on a LT1 car last week and it costs 18 hours to remove and reinstall an eng.. but thats considering you have a hoist and power tools, so add for that and that also doesnt include the time it takes to rebuild the eng. either. plus you better have a way of getting the body really HIGH IN THE AIR to be able to do it like that at home. Ive seen it done (someone here posted a pic of their car up in the air w/homemade jackstands under it) so it is possible, but more of a hassle then just liftin the car up w/a normal jack/jack stand deal. also, dont forget that you have to remove the ypipe first.

It is a breeze. I had it from on the ground on all four wheels, to on jackstands, with no front wheels in just under 7 hours. But we also had time to drink alot of beer, and screw off some. If you decide to go this way, call me. I have a few simple tricks that will help ya, and I dont feel like trying to type them.
