Paging IrocSS85
Paging IrocSS85
Hey Chris,
I was wondering if you can help me out. I have a Bassani high flow cat on my car. I have heard even though it is high flow it is still robbing HP. Especially beacause of the increased compression ratio? I am wanting to take it off and gut the cat and reinstall. Is there any issues with doing this?
Also, how hard is it to install a TQ converter lockup switch on my car. The thing seems to slip mid way through 2nd gear. I think that is why I am seeing 12.3 at 110Mph.
Are you doing Milan tomorrow night for the Street Warrior event 4pm-12am?
Thanks for the input.
Bill

Re: Paging IrocSS85
no, I am trying to plan a trip to milan finally next week though. see what the car can do. it really want a dyno tune, but it'll have to wait, might as well see what it'll do like this. cant be too far off since it seems to run perfect. biggest problem is it early shifts 2-3 most of the time under full throttle. Im gonna try my governer out of the Iroc trans to see if that helps since that car didnt have that problem.
as for the cat, sure we can do that no prob. some of them are easy to gut, some take TONS of time sitting there hammering, prying, shaking out, hamering, og it can be a bitch. Id suggest just getting a pipe to replace it. you'll need a set of 02 simms though.
if its slippin enough for you to notice, it should be either in the tranny or the convertor. Im not sure how your pcm will like us adding a manual lockup switch. we can always try it, but it'll prolly set a code. and poss. make the trans act funny while the code is set. cause the pcm will be trying to unlock the conv. I think. maybe we should make a post in the drivetrain forum asking if anyone has tried this on a 4L60E. I still need to install one of those switches on my 700r4. I had it on the Iroc and it did help. I think it was like 2mph and 1-2 tenths.
next weekend I think I'll already be busy workin on johns car again though. were swapping out his stock 2:73 open rear end for a 3:42 posi one. that will make a HUGE diff. in his car I think.
