My best friends father passed away...
We knew it was coming for a year now when Bill Joysey was found to have cancer beond hope. They gave Bill a week to two months and in the last year he had his life turneded upside down.
Confined to bed but he pulled himself together last september and made the ride up to Stanton with Bobby for the NMCA race...
...that was my last time seeing Bill.
Ya would have had to known Bill or just read about any magizine that covered the NMCA action to known that Bill lived and breathed "Horsepower!"
Bill loved building the motors that powered his son's Bobby to many wins in the NMCA EZ street class, and the current Limited street record holder with his last lil small block he put toghter.
His other boy Tom had many a outstanding run in the early days of Super street with Bills 436 BB Chevys.
Bill was a great man of bowtie knowlage working many years out of the Gm tech centers motor room..
...Bill ended his stay at gm when the LT1 programe was in full swing in the early 91 and thats where alot of my "early knowlage"
and build up plans for the Hot Rod Hawk came from.
Thank you Bill.
My first NMCA race in September of 1995 was also the first for Bill, Tom And Bob. We all pitted together, Bob with his camaro in the bracket class before it was a fast EZ street car, Tom running in Super street with his camaro blowing head gaskets and those guys just thrashing all night long. And me throwing on a nitrous kit on the car in the pits on saturday and Bill just a say'n your nutzzz boy to me. But dam if I didn't tune that baby in on sunday and went round after round to the finals and winning while Bill read my plugs for me after every pass and I'd make my tune change with his guidance.
That's just one of many things that are flooding my mind with memories...
......Rest in peace my good friend, mentor, and loved Father.
God Bless
