Is MSD worth the cash?

I have been having some problems with my Summit HEI distributor and was just wondering if any of you guys that have a MSD ignition system think its worth the money?
The MSD system I was looking at is $200 for distributor, $200 for 6AL ignition box, $30 for coil, $6 for coil bracket, and possibly more but I'm not exactly sure what else I would need, atleast $436. I don't have the money now but I'd like to get an idea of what you guys think. Will a MSD ignition system give me any gain over a stock HEI distributor? I don't plan to rev my engine much past 6500 rpm.

I've never used a MSD box on a high rpm motor, but I know that when I've used them it felt like it was making more power and started easier, then one time I took it back off my car and it seemed to run better I wouldn't waste my $ personally but a good HEI with all the good stuff in it shouldn't need much help.

well just borrow mine and see for yourself if you think its worth it. dang man, just come get it. Im not useing it this year prolly at all anyway.

when I had my 396, the msd system took me from 8mpg to 12, easier stars, way smoother idle, and no worry of timing problems in high rpms. plus the rev limiter and other possibilities that I never have used such as two steps and all that stuff.

When we put our new 406 circle track motor together all we had was an HEI distributor. The car would start hard, but it would run ok until it reached the higher RPM's. So we ended up going with a full MSD ignition and EVERYTHING is alot smoother. The car starts almost instantly when you hit the button and our missing issues are gone. I would definately say that an MSD is worth the money.
