molding stipped and tinting windows
Well I stripped off my body side molding off my TA the other day, and it was easy, “to easy” I barely used the hair dryer and just pulled and tada it’s gone. I’ll post pics once it gets nice out.
This Saturday I’m getting windows Tinted and I’m having Auto Ameristar do it, and they said they do the back window in one piece, opposed to two pieces which looks bad.
I’m getting the side windows done at 35% and the back will be as dark as the T-tops.
Questions are:
Has anyone gone thru Auto Ameristar
Anyone been pulled over for 35% tints in Michigan w/ a black car?

window tint
I have 5% on the back window, Double 2 1/2% on the sides, and the windshield is tinted 1/2 way down with 2 1/2%. I cruise Gratiot all the time and have never had a problem.
My Denali has the windows the same way, also no problems.
It's totally your call though...

I had 30% got pulled over for "loud exhaust" he found I had full exhaust so he nitpicked and gave me a ticket for the tint, not sure if it has changed but when I got mine in '98 you also got points on your license
When I was 16 I got a ticket for having tinited windows... not even my damn car. If I remember right, the limit in Michigan is 34% or 37%.
Yes it is points on your license... 2 to be exact. The charge is 'obstruction of vision.' Or at least is was back then.

I still don't understand how it can be a obstruction of view? Florida, Calif, Arizona all have it ya it's hot there and most cars have it, but Michigan reaches 100*F + during the summer also. It doesn't obstruct anything, well of course I heard people getting pulled over for having something hanging from they're rear view mirror.
Don’t Michigan Law Officers have anything else better to do? We are the “Motorcity” Come on!

here's what i know on tint
back window-Any % is legal
side windows-up to 35% is legal, top 4 inches can be whatever % you want
windshield- nothing can be on it with the exception of the top few inches
a friend was just pulled over with 5% on the side windows and was written a fix it ticket or 50 dollars. my stepdad has 20% on the sides and drives past cops all the time, never been pulled over yet.

my turn.
I got a ticket for my 95. ofcourse it was a state trooper. it was whatever the city's price is to pay for it. in livonia it cost $90. I love the way thte car looks w/it so I just payed the ticket. thats the only ticket Ive gotten for that and Ive had the car for 4 years. the wife drives it everyday in the summers (before this year). I believe it has 35% or 40%. not sure. its black, yet light enough to see through from the outside even. the darker it is, the harder it is to see out fo the car while driving. esp. on the sides. I had a firebird that I put limo tint on the back and sides. you couldnt see the cars in the next lane in the day let alone at night. it really sucked for driving. you have to roll down the windows to look to see if you can switch lanes.
steve, did you get the tint done yet? if not let me know there's a guy that we use at work all the time and he does GREAT! pretty fair on prices and maybe I can get him to come down even more if he does your car and my dads at the same time. let me know if you want me to get a price for you mon. at work.
also, did you get that windshield scratch fixed yet?
