Michigan residents! ? on windo tint!
I have 5% on the back and 35% on both sides all the way. No problems for tinting although I have had other problems with the fuzz. You can go as dark as you want on the rear. My sides are illegal though. It's not as noticable really on my car though because I have t-tops and a black car..........so the tint doesn't stand out as much.
I got tint on my car, the side window tint is so light.....you can through it in the dark with no problem.
EVERY GOD DAMN TIME I get on the freeway I get pulled over by the ******* state police and get a ****ing ticket for it........it doesnt fail. If a state cop sees my car, im getting pulled over for tint.
1 time I got pulled over with the windows down for "loud car"....made me roll up my windows and gave me a damn tint ticket.
NEVER had a local or county cop mess with me about it. They dont care. Only state police.

So let me get this straight. There is no limit on the back window, but the sides can be any degree of tint as long as they are rolled down when you get pulled over right. Even if the cop makes you roll up the windows you can't get a ticket since they were down in the first place right, because if not I will tell him I don't have side windows.
Here is the exact Michigan State Law:
MICHIGAN VEHICLE CODE (EXCERPT)
Act 300 of 1949
257.709 Windshields and windows; prohibitions; rearview mirrors; exceptions; windshield wipers; exemption; hot air windshield defroster or electrically heated windshield or other device; windshield washer; definitions.
Sec. 709.
(1) A person shall not drive a motor vehicle with any of the following:
(a) A sign, poster, nontransparent material, window application, reflective film, or nonreflective film upon or in the front windshield, the side windows immediately adjacent to the driver or front passenger, or the sidewings adjacent to and forward of the driver or front passenger, except that a tinted film may be used along the top edge of the windshield and the side windows or sidewings immediately adjacent to the driver or front passenger if the material does not extend more than 4 inches from the top of the windshield, or lower than the shade band, whichever is closer to the top of the windshield.
(b) A rear window or side window to the rear of the driver composed of, covered by, or treated with a material that creates a total solar reflectance of 35% or more in the visible light range, including a silver or gold reflective film.
(c) A dangling ornament or other suspended object that obstructs the vision of the driver of the vehicle, except as authorized by law.
(2) A person shall not drive a motor vehicle if driver visibility through the rear window is obstructed, unless the vehicle is equipped with 2 rearview mirrors, 1 on each side, adjusted so that the operator has a clear view of the highway behind the vehicle.
(3) This section shall not apply to:
(a) The use of draperies, louvers, or other special window treatments, except those specifically designated in this section, on the rear window, or a side window to the rear of the driver if the vehicle is equipped with 2 outside rearview mirrors, 1 on each side, adjusted so that the driver has a clear view of the highway behind the vehicle.
(b) The use of a nonreflective, smoked or tinted glass, nonreflective film, perforated window screen, or other decorative window application on the rear window or a side window to the rear of the driver.
(c) The placement of a necessary certificate or sticker that does not obstruct the driver's clear view of the roadway or an intersecting roadway.
(d) A vehicle registered in another state, territory, commonwealth of the United States, or another country or province.
(e) A special window treatment or application determined necessary by a physician or optometrist, for the protection of a person who is light sensitive or photosensitive, if the owner or operator of a motor vehicle has in possession a letter signed by a physician or optometrist, indicating that the special window treatment or application is a medical necessity. However, the special window treatment or application shall not interfere with or obstruct the driver's clear vision of the highway or an intersecting highway.
(4) Except as provided in subsection (5), the windshield on each motor vehicle shall be equipped with a device for cleaning rain, snow, or other moisture from the windshield, which device shall be so constructed as to be controlled or operated by the driver of the vehicle. A vehicle licensed as an historical vehicle is exempt from this subsection if the vehicle was not originally equipped with such a device. Each windshield wiper upon a motor vehicle shall be maintained in good working order.
(5) A truck with a gross weight over 10,000 pounds, a truck tractor, a bus, or a truck regardless of weight carrying hazardous materials on which a placard is required to be posted pursuant to 49 C.F.R. parts 100 to 199 having a windshield shall be equipped with not less than 2 automatically operating windshield wiper blades, 1 on each side of the centerline of the windshield, for cleaning rain, snow, or other moisture from the windshield. The blades shall be in such condition as to provide clear vision for the driver, unless 1 blade is so arranged as to clean an area of the windshield extending to within 1 inch of the limit of vision through the windshield at each side. However, in driveaway-towaway operations, this subsection shall apply only to the driven vehicle. In addition, 1 windshield wiper blade suffices under this subsection when the driven vehicle in a driveaway-towaway operation constitutes part or all of the property being transported and has no provision for 2 blades. A truck and truck tractor, manufactured after June 30, 1953, that depends upon vacuum to operate the windshield wipers, shall be so constructed that the operation of the wipers is not materially impaired by change in the intake manifold pressure.
(6) A truck with a gross weight over 10,000 pounds, a truck tractor, a bus, or a truck regardless of weight carrying hazardous materials on which a placard is required to be posted pursuant to 49 C.F.R. parts 100 to 199 shall not be operated on the highways at any time unless it is equipped with a hot air windshield defroster or an electrically heated windshield or other device to heat and maintain the windshield in operable condition at all times.

I try not to street race and do the speed limit so I don't get pulled over much. Come to think of it I got pulled over on the way to M7 and he let me go. He didn't even say anything about the tinted windows.

Believe it or not a lot of cops think it's legal to have a certain percentage of tint on the driver and passenger windows. Let me assure you it's illegal to any %. You are allowed a 4" strip at the top edge of the window and nothing further. That applies to the the windshield as well, however the windshield application must be transparent and ALL tint must be NON-reflective. You are allowed any % of NON-reflective tint behind the driver as long as you have an outside mirror on the passenger door.
Trust me, I personally write tickets for violation of the Michigan window tint law almost 5 days a week. In case anyone's wondering it's MCL 257.709 in the Michigan Vehicle Code.
If you haven't been ticketed for it yet you either live in an area that doesn't enforce the law, is ignorant about the law or you've been lucky so far.
** The Dr. note DOES NOT apply to the windshield. Driving with your windshield tinted may result in a NON fix-it ticket such as "vision obstruction" which is a 2 point moving violation. In all honesty, a hard-*** cop could tow your vehicle due to it being unsafe for operation on public roads with all the windows tinted including the windshild.

TT/A1233 what area do you work in so I will know not to drive there.j/k
I worked at a Buick dealership in service for 9 years back in the GN days. I love the GN's and GNX cars. I checked out your web page and the GN page. That is the first GN vert I have ever seen on page 3. I would like to see it in person. I started to buy a GN when I worked for Buick but it was at the end of the run and they won't sell me one with the emp discount. Now I wish I had went ahead and purchased one. As you can tell I got the IROC instead and just put a bigger motor in it.
Which car do you like best. The TTA or the GN. I know they are two different cars. I have a 87 IROC with a Lingenfelter motor and a 96 WS6 Formula. I love both but for racing I like the IROC. For cruising I like the WS6.
What have you done to the TTA. You didn't say it was stock like the GN. Also do you know Tim and Donna. There was a guy and girl with a stock GN that is friends with them that went to Ubly last spring with our group. Didn't know if that was you or not. Anyway nice rides.

GN vert on page 3?? You lost me....
Nope, I'm not familiar with Tim or Donna.
The TTA only has the 3 mods listed in my sig. I plan on a fuel pump, FP regulator, open air box and good drag radials. Should put me mid 12's or better.
I had my TTA at Ubly in '01 shortly after I got it. GN's never been to the track, it'll stay pretty much in the garage.
As far as which one I like the best I'd say the GN. It rides nicer, is easier in-out, has more room, is more comfortable all around and gets a lot more looks and
. The TTA is quicker than sheeite and is great for surprising the unaware.

Don't drive by state troopers
State Troopers will target you like mad, especially in a camaro. I got pulled over like 4 times within a year all for window tinting and maybe speeding or something else. Until the final time the tint was the reason he pulled me over and that was all! I decided to take the side windows completely off and the ticket got waived. But that is way too many times to be hassled. They weren't even very dark tint on passenger and drivers either. I don't know the % bought it like that, I would say no more than 50% I'm sure. You could see in and out easily so I figured I wouldn't get troubled much, but I was wrong. State Troopers live for speeding and tinted window tickets in michigan, especially young guys driving sports cars. However I have never gotten anything bad from a city or county officer. So if you stay off the highway mostly I'd say you are fine.
P.S. I was driving to work when he stopped me the last time that just kinda ruined my day, a ticket for tinted windows!
