LS1 w/ Headers no cats, Borla Exhaust

I might have the opportunity to get headers for my 02 WS6, and Would like to hear what it sounds like before I get it. If there's anyone in the Wayne county area that has a LS1 with no cats headers, and a Borla exhaust, please contact me either by PM, email or in this forum, I would really appreciate it if I could hear your car before I make my decision. Thanks

I've got something close to what you're looking for. I'm running borla + oryp....I just don't have the headers (yet). There are a few vids on my site of what you can expect. http://www.cardomain.com/id/sspddmon

Try to find the same header and y setup when making your comparison.

Some y-pipe collector designs (i.e. MAC) are prone to rasp and the Borla tends to make it worse. A y-pipe with a different collector (i.e. flowmaster) will not sound the same.

Would a bullet muffler cure the rasp and other obnoxious sounds as well?

I put a bullet on my Hooker cat-back and it helped.

It was only a 250 dollar cat-back. I don't know if I would have cut up a 700 dollar Borla cat-back.

hey steve, my dads car has the hookers, offroad ypipe, and a catback that sounds similar to a borla w/maybe the medium plate in it. his car has NO rasp, and is pretty quiet being a longtube header/oryp car. I think his car has the best of both worlds being somewhat quiet and a nice deep, full sound while on the go pedal. ofcourse this isnt a perfect match to hear exactly what your car will sound like, but at least its hope. so if the borla gives you rasp, why not get a diff. catback that doesnt have that?

BTW, i dont know wht the name brand is on his catback, it was part of his mecham package.
