Smile Just pulled out the trans....now for the motor.

Well finally the weather broke enough for me to crawl out into the garage and start working on the car. I pulled out the trans and just started pulling off the the accessories to get the motor out. I plan on having both out today.

I'm pulling the trans because the torque convertor that I got is too loose. The stall on motor is at around 4400 and when I hit the juice the stall goes up to 6500. When I have the shift light set for 6400 it makes it a bit hard to drive.

I just went and picked up a cherry picker. Well time to eat and back out there for the motor.

So much for the nice weather today.

Wish me luck.

Trans Work

Hey, I have a 94Z, I need trans work (see thread titled "Funny/Sad story inside") Anyways, I need to pull the tranny, I know you have an LS1, and am unsure of the mounting differences or similarities. But was it tough to get it out? Did you use a trans jack, because I dont have one. Just a regular floor jack. I heard something about the top 2 bolts being tough to remove? Let me know what you think. Thanks,

Charlie

I've pulled my trans a few times (maybe 7) now and I've done a T56, T400 on my car, with help, by myself with a regular jack, without. Just about every combination that you can think of but always on my back. I guess that tough is in the eye of the beholder.

For the top 2 bolts, I've found that the easiest way is to make sure that you have a super long extension. I think that mine is a 3 footer. Also make sure that the car is nice and high up in the air.

We've also pulled my freind Taner's trans (his is an LT1) and it's pretty much the same as my removal. So you shouldn't have any issues.

I've done a bit already, more to come.

So the mods have started eh? Awesome, if you would like to ask any questions.....shoot.

So my motor is finally out, thanks Taner.

Now for a special delivery to ARE next weekend for a little massage.

Actually Roman I do have a question but I need it answered before 10:30 tonight.

I am bidding on a HPP3 on e-bay right now and it ends soon. I want it primarily for when I change my gear ratio. If I get it, it'll be about 250 Cnd. plus shipping. Is it worth it or is there a cheaper alternative?????

I don't think that you have much of an alternative, other than getting custom programming done or LS1 edit. So for that purpose, HPP3 is the best. I personally didn't think that mine was worth it, it's only real purpose was for rev limits and the gear ratio. I'd save up for something else. jmo.

When we go racing ask Taner to see if his wife (Jennie) is using his nittos and if not he'd let you try them. Or maybe ask me to ask him for you, he can be miserable sometimes.

Actually in the winter time the beer doesn't flow that good.

The tranny pull=0 beers
The motor pull =2 beers (celebration beer)

The tranny pull=1 person
The motor pull =2 people

But the install should be different story, it should be warm by then. (we need more smileys)
