The joys of getting NHRA legal

Well today, since my dad is sponsoring the safety portion of my car, we ordered a 6-point weld-in bar from wolfe along w/ the crotch strap bracket bar that mounts to the factory seat bolts. I am picking up a 5-point harness from a fellow cz28 member sometime next week and the cage will be getting welded in next Friday. Talk about last minute :-). All I need now is a sfi approved fire jacket. Anyone know what specific kind I need because there are a few options in the latest Jegs catalog?

Now wouldn't it be funny if I did all this work only to have my et streets come late and then not even be close to the 11's. Oh well...maybe if stanton hooks better than milan w/ my dr's I might still make it there. 12.4 on a broken tranny and 2.0 60 ft isn't too bad. I can't wait to get my first 11-second pass and NOT have to get kicked off the track :-). We'll see...

An RCI single layer would work fine. They are about 90 dollars.

12.00 but only a few times. Then she puts the kabashes on everybody going 11.99 or quicker without a jacket and 6 point.!

I've went as quick as 11.61 there, but too many of us started doing it and she said 'THAT'S IT!'

I'm just gonna tune mine for 12.0X's. I like IHRA... you can go 11.50 before needing the stuff.

If you can go WAY quicker than 11.99 than you BETTER have the stuff! By the way... try www.NHRA.com for more rules info.

Thanks Derty...anyone know a place that sells them local? That or I can order from summit and it should be here within a few days. They are very quick at shipping so that's the route I'll probably go.

I picked up an RJS jacket today from Ramchargers. Cost me $48 + change. Not a bad deal at all. Now, to find a decent helmet locally. Actually HInk, I couldn't find the complete set of rules there, just the reference guide. I eventually found a list on the net. Thanks though.

Goto Ramchargers or order from Thunder Racing, Summit or Jegs and you'll have it in time. Size is just like a normal jacket. Helmet must also have a Snell sticker visible with the serial numbers, but I doubt they would check at MMM.

If a Snell M2000 helmet will work for drag racing I have a GForce 650 size medium that I only used for about 6 autox events last year. It's black and I'd sell it for $50. You can see it at http://www.racerwholesale.com/Mercha...Racing+Helmets

Sizing info is also on that site.
